I am trying to Share RAW files with a fellow UHH'er for Calibration purposes, so he can examine my unaltered RAW files (as they appear in ACR unadjusted) via DropBox. For some reason he is not receiving my approximately 32MB each DNG files. Yet I can send a 118MB mp3 music alum to my wife's PC and to other friends who don't even have DropBox installed (they get a link in their regular email). Does DropBox have some security settings that treat image files differently than audio files. It does not seem to be a size issue from what I can tell. Any thoughts? Help? (DropBox is essentially like FaceBook, there is no Help.) Thank you.

I am not sure why drop box is not working in this instance, but you can send it easily using We Transfer (free version) Just put in your email, recipients, and browse to the file you want to attach. Click on Send and he will receive the downloadable link in an email. Very easy. You do have to click on I Accept The Terms but they are extremely reputable and nothing bad happens whatsoever.

Think your problem may be with your friend? Dropbox doesn't send any files, you load it up to your Dropbox storage and then send a link (or 'share') with your friends e-mail address, they can then download at their convenience. I haven't had a problem with it? Don't forget you also get free cloud storage if you're an android/Gmail user via Google Drive and also Microsoft give you 5GB if you have a hotmail account using their 'onedrive'...

There are two ways (at least) do to this.

If the other party does not have Dropbox account, you can use the "Photos" folder and create a folder within the Photos folder. Put your images in there, then go to the parent folder, right click on the new folder's name, and one of the options will be to copy DropBox link. It will copy the link address to the Clipboard (in Windows), then you can paste it into an email. When the other party clicks on the link, they will have access to that folder on the DropBox server.

If the other party has a DropBox account, you can share any folder (it does not have to be in the Photos folder). Once you have identified what folder you are sharing, you right click on it, and on the flyout menu there will be a DropBox-specific share option - it will have the DropBox logo just to the left of the option. Selecting it will bring up a dialog box where you can enter the email address of the other party, and you can write a brief message. This will send an email invitation to the other person to join your folder, with a link. When he/she opens the email and clicks on the link, that folder will also appear in their DropBox folder and the share is enabled. I use a name like Gene-Joe Share as a filename, to differentiate it from other folders that I share with others.

Need more information on exactly what problem the receiver is having and how you provided the files. There are several ways you can share files on Dropbox. Which did you use?

Did you give them a link to the folder? Did you set up a share of the folder? Did you do links or shares file by file?

When the receiver tries the link or share, what happens on their end?

This may or may not be helpful but are you compressing the file before uploading in Dropbox? I send several folders daily with 50-90 jpegs in each this way.

Try a service called WeTransfer. It works everytime and is easy to use. It allows transfer up to 2 gigabytes at no cost or sign up.

DropBox is a strange service. I sent a large amount of clients video footage and it bounced back
Some of the clip files titles were to long. I shortened some and it worked. A few were marked not complete.
It was created by the client for editing but isn’t this what Dropbox is for. The billed me $100 for a year one month when I am a monthly customer. To me their interface is clumsy trying to give you a business management team sharing process.
I want storage and send. The file mentioned was a big file and I think that they use slowdown to get an upgrade.
I have 1 TB with less than 10% used. It shouldn’t take 6 hours to send a big file.
I pay for Vimeo same thing they want to manage every customer with video files I should look at
And interference with linked files I use for my video work.

Sorry, pondering the issue on my own. The recipient say he gets nothing not a link or anything. He only knows I sent him something because I either email him or UHH PM him that I did. He knows more about DropBox than I do. They don't want to communicate directly with their customers being some mystery crap. It have work OK for others I've sent things too, even people with no DropBox of their own. Works, even the same files to my wife's PC in another room. The only thing that I know that is different about this fellow UHH'er is he has his own domain. He knows computers as he is talking about a ftp for my files. Thanks for at least reading and offering some info. Most of the technical stuff you referred to or asked I have no idea.
