I was down by the creek the other day and the turtles were out sun bathing. Too bad they were on the other side; think of the turtle soup I could have made.

You should have used download original so we could see the turtles better. As it is you can barely see the turtles for the trees.
Did you take that photo on the Perkiomen?

The turtles would prefer that you become vegan.

If I were a turtle, I'd want to be across the river from you too.

Now now...Modern man keeps forgetting where food comes from. Personally good turtle soup is from turtles not from a can that contains everything but turtle. Our modern diet is what causes a lot of cancer and health problems. Miralax is only a few molecules away from what it is made from. Miralax is made from Ethylene Glycol. The stuff that does into your cars radiator. You know the common term is antifreeze. Polyethylene glycol is Miralax and also used in driveway heaters as the antifreeze as well as used in under floor heaters. Think where your food comes from before you eat it. I prefer real animals to fake soy products as some people like me cannot eat soy without it causing mouth and gut irritation that could lead to colon cancer.

I grew up on a farm and am very much an omnivore - I was just reflecting the turtle's point of view. Come of think of it, I don't think I've ever had turtle soup - hmmm.

Turtle soup with a little sherry is really good. It's really good even without the sherry. Hmmm, a bowl of turtle soup and a side of frog legs. Good eats from the swamp.

As many times as I've been down to the creek, the turtles are always on the other side. I think they are on to me.

*Ding!* That's why it works so well! You take it. You're body insists on getting rid of it- quickly- and boom! There it is!
BTW, did you know this is where a lot of Trumpelstiltskin's trade disagreements come from? A lot of countries won't import a lot of our beer products because our processing adds antifreeze as a sweetener! Then "we" agreed to not do this- then "we" agreed that certain amounts are allowable- then "we" disagreed on allowing 3rd party inspections.
The same as with our beef, poultry, pork and dairy products because of antibiotics, growth hormones and steroids. The same with BPA in our plastics. We are indignantly refusing QC!
Are there any free range turtle farms, or are there just factory warehouse products?

Come to think of it I don't believe I like the tone of this response.

No offence intended. I just credited turtles with good survival instincts. Myself, I'd prefer to keep a river (at least) between me and anyone who saw me as dinner.

If you ever cleaned a turtle you probably wouldn't want to eat the soup.
been there done that: 13 of them in 4 days in 1978, all hard shelled snappers from 6" to 14" across.
They were in a 1/2 acre lagoon and killing ducks that were there to help with aeration.
Caught them on jug lines.

Never argue with a food nut. They are simply incapable of accepting the fact that the protein from meat has sustained mankind since prehistoric times. Let them eat grass and bird seed. They are certainly not disturbing the rest of us, unless we let them.

The frog's legs do get a bit twitchy in the skillet. Cannot seem to find real turtle soup these days though. The same goes for buffalo which is lower in cholesterol than beef.
