Regis, Your image can only be defined with superlatives. Canon should buy this photo from you for promotional brochures. Was the Osprey successfully in its full capture of the salmon?

Thank you very much, Barn Owl. The Osprey, after a powerful struggle, was able to lift the red salmon out of the water. It was a big salmon.

Today I used my new Canon 300 2.8 II to capture this Osprey and it's salmon.
Hand held at 600mm at a distance of about 150 feet.

Canon 5Dsr - Canon 300 2.8 II - Canon 2x III - 1/1000 - f/11 - ISO @ 1000.

Nice capture Regis.

We're happy for you Regis, I'll give you some time with your new lens and see what you think the difference is between the two. Did you luck out with the focus or did you have to micro-adjust it. The fine detail still rings true with the Canon 5Dsr. One big advantage would be less chance of clipping the wings while using 600mm vs.800mm. So much for the loss of IQ with using a 2X, and hand held too. Have you ever thought what you could do with an 800mm f/5.6, I know, you and I both would need a very good tripod and that would cramp your style. Great shot with nice rich color. Hope to see you next week sometime.

Ron
