There are two Epson printers that would work well for you. The Epson P800 or the Epson P5000. Both printers really work great. If you are worried about service you can purchase Epson's service contract. If you have an issue Epson will replace the printer. I have the P5000 and it does a beautiful job.

I can only tell you what not to get, HP. Had one which produced crap, lines, bad color, lousy definition. Returned it for another model, equally bad. Friend has old Cannon which produces great prints. I just send mine to Costco now.

Agree on hp, such a shame. They basically invented the home / small office printer market, which they dominated for several years, then threw it all away through poor management. Now they are kind of a laptop company.

Had a Canon several years ago and really was not happy with it. So I probably will stay away from Canon.

I had one of the old ones too (forget model), also had problems with it. But today's are much better and I like my Canon PIXMA PRO-9000 (pre-dates, similar to the PRO-100).

Very poor top management. Everything HP sucks today! Printers, top-end 18" HP laptops, etc. are all junk now, I've own (unhappily) those too. I still have my ancient HP-45 Pocket Calculator. But I really use HP 10C, 11C, 12C, and 15C ones more recently and today. The last good HP product I had was a ~ 1995 LaserJet HP4P printer. In 1973 Ms. H or P (?) the daughter of one of the originators of the company worked and managed HP and was very attentive and actually would correspond personally with customers (like me). But she got the itch to move on to Marine Biology and so left HP for a science career. Can't blame her. This was long before that horrid "B" lunatic who after had the gall to run for elected office in CA nearly ruined HP.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R3000, which utilizes 9 inks including photo black. It is about four or five years old and has a 13” carriage. It has been a good photo printer and I only use it as a photo printer. I have another less expensive printer for my normal daily use. Like all photo printers the ink media and paper is expensive.

When I replace it, I will likely buy a printer with 8” carriage capacity. Although I have printed large photos 13”x19” for display and contest on my printer, I mostly use it for 4”x6” photos for greeting cards, birthdays and proofing. Even though I use Spyder 5 Pro to calibrate my monitor (27” iMac with retina screen) on a regular basis, I find what looks good on-screen does not necessarily provide the “best” print. I mainly use a MPIX Pro to print my larger work. They do a great job and I’m not limited by size. Their prices are reasonable and can have it at my door in about 3 days. I use my photo printer to proof my submissions to MPIX, usually using a 4x6 or 5x7 size. I clearly specify “no color corrections”. Of course, using your own photo printer provides a faster turnaround time when that’s important.

I have photography friends that are very happy with the canon photo printer recommended above. Good luck with your printer chase.

Canon pro 1oo up to 19x13 with rebate it is about 200 dollars. They stick it to you on the ink; but I have used non Canon inks that are much cheaper and I cannot tell a difference.

Did you actually mean 17" wide? And not 13" wide by 17" or 19" long? Not much at 17" wide and would be big Money.

P800 has a 17” throat. It prints 17” wide papers, whether sheets or rolls.

... What kind of Photos do you print? I am looking for something that lets me print on heavy Card-Stock as well as regular Photo Paper. I am afraid Card-Stock always clogs the Printheads a lot faster than Photo Paper, so I am looking for someone that has used Card-Stock in addition to regular Photo Paper and can give me a Feed-back.
...

I don't use card stock, so don't know the effect on clogging. I use mostly various Red River papers, such as 68lb UltraPro Satin. Red River does have several card stock papers for inkjet printers, such as 88lb Polar Matte Card Stock, so I would expect that would work well in either the Epson P800 or the Canon Pro 1000 -- if you use the straight-through printing path.

When I print on card stock or watercolor paper, I will first brush the paper with my wet n dry vacuum.

If you are really looking for a 17" wide and would like to save money, I would look at manufacturer's "refurbished" printers on their websites. My last two Epson photo printers were purchased that way - an Epson R1800 that worked for more years than I wanted it to (I wanted an excuse to buy a different, larger printer) and its replacement, an Epson 3880 (17" wide). I still use the 3880 to this day, more than 5 years later and bought it for about $800 when the retail price was $1295. It came with all the same stuff as the new one including a 1 year warranty. It just doesn't come in the pretty retail box, but comes instead in a brown corrugated box, but who cares about the box, right? It has worked perfectly ever since. I am almost to the point where I wish it would die because I want to buy a new printer, but it keeps doing great prints and saving me from myself.

I want to thank everyone for informing me about the best Printer. After some consideration, I decided to give Canon a try.
Just bought the Canon Pro 100. I just could not resist the great Price the Company is offering. Total Price for the Printer including a 3 year in House Service Contract, free $50.00 Photo Paper and a complete Set of Ink-Cartridges was $525.00 and I will get a $250.00 Rebate Check on top of that. Never had a Printer that was that cheap. Certainly beats the $1500.00 that my Epson cost. Will keep you informed how I like it. And Thanks again for all your help. At my age (I am 79 years old) you can use all the help you can get.
