Of the following models, which would you consider to be the best, overall - for a relative newbie, to photography? ... Canon EOS Rebel T7, Nikon D3400, Canon EOS Rebel SL2, or a Pentax K-70? ... Please bear in mind, relative cost, and, of course - convenience of included features. Thanks so much!

I know that entry level Nikon cameras have instructions in the LCD in most situations.

Chris, just about any of them are good for beginners. The part that becomes difficult for the beginner is the additional "features", which aren't photographic per se which are included. For a beginner, all that's really needed is shutter speed, aperture, and ISO.

Since I'm a Nikon guy, 3400. I shoot with a 3300 and love it. I would go to your local camera store, and look away, hold, and try each one, then decide....

The best is the one that makes cameras the user is most comfortable with. They should check the feel, check the menus to see which is most intuitive. Checking at a store is good, renting to decide is better.

Sony a6000 with an 18-50 lens

Yeah, yeah, I know, OP didn’t say anything about Sony, but this is the biggest bang for the buck.

Yes, Bob ... all a beginner needs to know is - ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture ... oh, and Auto (or P) ...

I was just wondering what you all thought might be better to get (for a friend) ...

Yes, Frank ... I have the D3200 ... and still use it, from time-to-time. Both the D3200 and the D3300, feature Auto Sensor Clean, but the D3400 does not.

No, didn't mention any Sony models, not even SLTs ... the preference here is for a beginner DSLR ... which means it's limited to Nikon, Canon, Pentax.

Well, fine then, if you want a Canon then go buy a a Canon! If you have your mind made up already, why are you asking for suggestions?
