I love the idea for change to mirror less-cameras! I read about this idea a long while back; now the idea is finally being developed. I am presently satisfied with my camera but I can see that's what I'd like in the future--being able to use my present collection of lenses and having a lighter camera---such as in camcorders. We'll see!

Its very easy to come up with many reasons not to "SWITCH" to mirrorless. Its much more difficult to not consider "adding" mirrorless to your DSLR arsenal.

My biggest gripe is the lack of native lenses for the mirror-less cameras from Nikon and the timeline for development of these lenses. Using the adapter to fit your existing lenses kind of negates the value received from a mirror-less system. It would have been (in my humble opinion) better to have developed a complete line of native lenses to match the announcement of the Z6 and Z7.

I just took delivery of a Sony a7 for the express purpose of being able to use legacy glass from many manufacturers.

I've seen reviews that boil down to stating the a7 is an excellent sensor in a not so excellent camera system, and so far I agree. For a variety of reasons the Sony system is not anywhere close to any of my Nikon bodies as far as usability and software control of the camera system. If I were just now coming to digital photography from film and had purchased the a7 as my first and only digital camera I would be sorely disappointed.

As it is I will keep it for the expressed reason I purchased it, but I won't be eliminating my any of my SLRs or DSLRs from my tool kit to go mirrorless anytime in the foreseeable future.

In general mirrorless cameras are smaller and lighter but some of the lenses are big and heavy. I do not use my mirrorless bodies (Olympus) for action or wildlife. My cameras were not designed with hybrid or phase detection AF. It can be done but old tricks will be in use since the contrast detection AF is not reliable for moving subjects.
I cannot comment on Sony bodies, I have not used them. Same goes for Fuji.
I am sure that the Olympus EM-1 Mk II is doing pretty well with wildlife and action photography from what I know but I would say that AF in mirrorless cameras will continue to improve.
dSLR cameras are heavy and bulky but they are fantastic and awesome pieces of gear.

Since Nikon and hopefully soon Canon will have full frame mirrored cameras that are much lighter, I will most likely tbuy one. My current camera is too heavy for me now. Plus they offer many benefits that my current Canon does not have.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have ADDED two Oly mirrorlesss units, the EM1mk2 and the em5mk2, plus 3 lenses, (all used from Roberts Camera). But I still Have a 5d3, and a 70d that my wife loves. Also will keep all my L glass until I am no longer in the photography state of mind. The lack of PDAF focusing is still the bane of Olympus cameras, but I do love the lite weight of the little beauties, especially with native glass. Also the IQ will match my L glass in virtually every practical way unless if you are a pixel peeper above 100%.

I got rid of my Nikon D700 for a Fujifilm X-T2, and I'll never go back to a DSLR.

The only reason that makes any sense to me is #2. Yes, DSLRs are still cameras, but that doesn't mean you can't buy a different format. It seems like he has five very weak reasons here. "...We Are in Present." True, and we will always be living in the present.

I agree with you and disagree with all 5 of the reasons. I've saved almost 5 lbs in my backpack switching from a Nikon D800 system to a Sony a7rIII system (body and 4 lenses, all Sony). Sony has figured out a way to reduce the weight of most of it's equivalent full frame lenses and still maintain high quality. No lenses are missing until you pass 400mm and those are on the immediate horizon. The ergonomics of the a7rIII are just fine with me thank you and I have large/fat hands. Finally, the end results I'm getting with the Sony system are surpassing my old D800 system and are at least equivalent to the D850 so assume the Z line as well.

Nikon didn't spend all that dough trying to catch up with Sony mirrorless just for fun. It's where the future (and present for many) is...

Nikon, with a new lens system, made the first point wrong. You can’t use the new lenses on their DSLRs. There is no backwards adapter.
