Do any Hogs (outside of the U.K.) watch this T.V. comedy series - the longest running BBC sitcom (31 series and 295 episodes). Just curious as to their thoughts.
Thinking of stopping off there on way to or back from a short holiday in The Lakes and maybe having a cuppa in Sid's cafe!

Most of us will have no clue about that which you speak. It sounds like it is our loss. Raise a pint for us!

A quiet cuppa in Sid's Cafe sounds like the perfect restorative after a ride on one of Wesley Pegdon's madcap ad hoc vehicles or bit of unrushed antiquing at Auntie Wainwright's well-organized shop.
Last of the Summer Wine has been a Maryland Public TV staple for many years. Over that time I've managed to laugh my way through most of the series, other than the episodes of the last year or so, when Peter Sallis and Frank Thornton, having deemed to be too old to be insured, were not allowed to wander about.

Me and Mrs. N. have rolled back the years and are staying overnight at Hartington Hall Youth Hostel. Thankfully you can get en-suites now as we could both easily scare a younger visitor in the dormitory accommodation. Dependent on the weather forecast we will work our way up through the Peaks via. Bakewell, Ladybower and Holmfirth and if time grab a few shots of the viaduct at Ribblehead.
Nikonman - do you know any of the pubs they used and their locations?
Sb - It seems many of you do, and enjoyably so. I think it's how retirement should be, bumbling around stopping for a cuppa or a pint without a care in the world dreaming far fetched fantasies and maybe acting them out. So far, it hasn't happened. Modern retirement won't let you do it!

I hadn't heard of the series, so I searched for it on the Xfinity website, and it showed no upcoming airings. But there was an episode guide, and it looks like the last season of the show was 2010.

COMPOs cafe was still actually there the last time I was in the area , don't know if this is still the case.
Coach operators used to stop of at Nora Batty's house without the consent or prior knowledge of the people that live there. Don't think they were too happy about this . There is some lovely countryside in the area and , IMHO , worth a visit . Hope you enjoy your trip . Please remember to live lots of money here , we need the currency.

I was there a several years ago john, the cafe is in very tight square (as I remember) with some stone steps down to one side. they were shooting a scene with Nora Batty, but is was that packed with people watching we didn't stop long.

That's a really good tour around I hope you grab a few photographs at each place. There is a Pub adjacent to the viaduct, (The Station) I've never been in so I can't advise on the place. There is another one a few miles away in Horton in Ribblesdale which is very nice, The Golden Lion BD24 OHB is worth a try.

The title sounds familiar. Nope! I've seen it listed, but never watched. I'll have to take a look.
I have been watching that about as long as it's been on. I usually watch it while I have lunch. Both working and in retirement. I still see episodes I have never seen. My wide and I even have our 5 year old grandaughter watching " pop pops" show. Her favorite character is Compo.
I just watched a recorded episode on my DVR last night. I saved a few last year when it was broadcast on PBS. It was Compo's funeral episodes. Great comedy about getting older and having fun.
Find episodes on YouTube. I'll have to watch a couple later. Best.
