Lost and .......

Found! A greater roadrunner in Santa Barbara, whose natural habitat is usually the deserts of the southwest and Mexico. They usually mate for life and can run 20 miles an hour! This one has been hanging out in my backyard and likes my dining table! He is a large bird and his crown can lay flat or flare up. He is (I think it is a male) a beautiful bird.
Great shots. They don't usually sit & pose for you.
Beautiful shots of a beautiful bird. Not uncommon in inland CA. Drought may be forcing them west. Leave some raw hamburger on the table for him and he will probably stay around. Just be aware Roadrunners are very efficient predators of small birds, animals and reptiles.

So where's Wile E. Coyote when you need him?
Very nice shots, thanks for posting.
I have found that they like small cubes of cheddar cheese.
It is a beautiful bird. You did a great job of capturing him love that third one!
