HI Ed

I do have a morbid sense of humor !

What's attach to your lens? or What's in your camera bag?

I've been shooting almost 50 years, I would find having the lens cap dangling in my way. I've never lost a lens cap. They come off and go in my left pocket. When on the lens, they are usually set back in the lens hood so don't get knocked off and lost.

"What's that dark line in the frame? Oh, it's the string from my Cap Keeper."

Enough said...

No offence Joe but that reminds me of using duct tape to hold broken glasses :)

I use a UV filter. Only use a lens cap for longer term storage like in my bag, mainly just as a place to park it.

I leave mine in my car - one less thing on my camera and one less thing in my pocket.

I do the string thing. The only problem is keeping the cap out of the shot. And sometimes the string slips off the lens. It's a "belt and suspenders" thing for uptight me!

Incredibly lame.

Joe, I'm in Mac's camp. Take it off the lens and put it in my pocket. I do that as soon as I leave the house. Put it back on when I feel I'm done shooting for the day, or when I arrive back home.

I find having "additional not directly related to taking photographs" crap dangling off the camera is rather distracting.

It can also make noise when you're trying to sneak up

I find the string attached to the lens cap annoying. The lens cap goes into my pocket when I am shooting. However, if you feel that it doesn't bother you and that you won't misplace it, then use it. To each his own.

Since women's clothes often have no pockets and I once lost a lens cap, I do use those stick on lens cap keepers and I don't mind the cap swinging - better than losing it!

Then drop the lens cap into a little plastic bag before placing it into your pocket. A simple solution.

Thanks! Good idea!

I feel safer with the lens cap in my pocket. Thats where it immediately goes when I take it off.
