I am just wondering what people are using to process their photos. For myself I use Lightroom 2 (mostly because I was told to pick something and stick with it) and then Photoshop CS3. Please let me know what you use!...Julian
Lightroom CLASSIC CC 2018 and Photoshop CC 2018 on a late 2013 iMac running the latest MacOS: version 10.13.6.
Lr 2 and Ps CS3 are ancient history! I don’t think they’ll even run on the last two versions of operating systems.
LR 5, PS Elements 9, Affinity Photo, various Topaz plug-ins. Adding Luminars this week.

Adobe Photography Plan which includes Photoshop, Lightroom, Camera RAW and Bridge. I don't really use Lightroom because I don't need or want the photo/file management that it forces on you. Camera RAW is part of Photoshop as well, so I can do pretty much everything I would use Lightroom for plus a lot more if needed. It can also be used with Bridge if you don't want either Photoshop or Lightroom. I've been in IT since before the first IBM PC and have my own organizational methods. As a result, I use Photoshop and Bridge. I also use Topaz Studio since it is a bargain (free) and has many really nice features.

You can use Lightroom’s “import in place” feature, which leaves your files wherever you put them. Lightroom does not, of necessity, force you to do anything!
Not yet, I hope to in the future as I still have some of my old equipment.

When people told you to stick with it they meant to stick with Lightroom and Photoshop but not to a specific version. They meant to update to new version whenever new version is available. So it means now to subscribe to Adobe $10 a month lightroom and photoshop cc.
Updating every time a new version comes out is like updating a camera every time a new version comes out. It doesn't make you a better photographer, and if you don't want or need the new features you are wasting your money.
Buy the products that suit you, rather than the hype.

I landed on ACDSee Photstudio Pro 2018 and am highly impressed.
Fair price, nice cataloging, excellent editing capabilities, and no monthly fees.
