Busy Yard Scene-Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR-Chama, New Mexico

An overall simple breakdown of the operations is, The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR controls the everyday operations of running the tourist train.
The Friends organizations is the support that maintains the other rolling stock (and there is a lot) and some of the grounds and structures.
This week (7-23-2018 thru 7-27-2018) was a work session. The work session lasts five days and is run by the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. All members of the Friends are volunteers.
I do not know how far in advance this week was planned. I know there is Project Discovery person.
I’m sure projects are given a priority number that can change as time goes by.
The image below shows how close the Friends operate in regards to the daily operations of the passenger service of the railroad.
In the image, Locomotive #463 is waiting for a switch to be thrown so it can back up. To the left of #463 is a couple of cars that are being worked on this week. Far left is part of the shop.
On the right of #463 is a box car being re built. To the right of that is a long frame beam for the rebuild of another car. To the far right is the wood shop.
There are a lot of workers in this general area. It is a busy place. There other projects on the yard, Cumbres pass and Antonito, CO.
Before the train leaves, there can be passengers/tourists looking/walking around, as well.
All workers are well aware of the safety issues and look after fellow members and the tourist.
The #463 is on the main line (tracks). I am standing next to or just south of the sand house.
I’m volunteering as a chronicler, for the first time. My duties are to take images of my assigned projects and their progression during the week.
The images and short descriptions of the progress is filled out the project reports for this session.

I think it's quite commendable the way volunteers serve their communities. You are to be congratulated for your efforts and support of this historic railway. And I like your images, too.

Good to know how the volunteers play such a large part in the overall picture of maintenance. Thanks for being a chronicler Pat, and for running this segment.
