Imagine waking up to a hot air balloon landing next to your house.
This brings back memories. Years ago I was walking my dog in the morning and I stopped briefly at a neighbor's yard for my dog to visit with a friend (a young lamb with a bundle of energy, much like my young dog exhibited). While standing there in the quiet of the morning, suddenly there was an extremely loud burst of noise overhead caused when the balloon overhead ignited its burner. Along with the lamb and my dog, I jumped and looked overhead to see the big balloon, probably only 30 feet overhead. Until the loud noise I'd not even known it was up there.
Nice shots. Unlike me, you had your camera with you when the opportunity arose.

And they are indeed LOUD! This is especially true when they sneak up on you.
Nice series. Your last pix shows the set up for the champagne celebration at the end of the ride. We’ve done a couple of balloon rides and the first time we landed hard, tipped the basket on its side and dragged a little - lots of fun for those on the low side. It reminded me of broaching in a sailboat.
Missoula....one of my favorite cities. Thanks for sharing your images.
My wife and I occasionally enjoy watching the balloonist float across the Gallatin Valley. On this occasion a slight breeze brought him and his passengers in for their landing immediately below our house.
Bozeman.....one of my favorite cities.

Sorry about that. I thought you were from Missoula. Having a senior moment this morning for sure. Bottom line, it is special to live in Montana.
No apology necessary. Like you say, Montana is a special place. Have a good day.
