It lost me at the battle of valley forge considering valley forge was an encampment not a battlefield.

of all the ways one can protest, why has it to be the flag. they say it is not disrespectful to veterans. well, I am a wounded Viet Nam veteran and I feel they disrespect me every time they kneel, to say nothing about the thousands of those thru the years that did not return. it's been 50 years since I came home, but I will never forget how we were treated in our own country. I was never spit on, but it was funny that I couldn't find a job until I stopped listing my military service on job applications. I get thanked often now for my service, and it feels great. just wish it would have happened 50 years ago.

To those of you who do not agree with the kneelers: flags are symbols. Nothing more. They can represent anything, not just a country. A national flag represents all that a country stands for, and in the case of the USA, that "...all men are created equal..." Using one's 1st amendment rights to state that some of us are not being treated equally has nothing to do with degrading our armed forces. The players who have knelt and continue to do so have said exactly that. Open your ears. They want their children to live just like yours, without fear of being shot just because they do not look like you.

No war was won because someone at home wore a flag pin. Wars were won because we prevailed in the end.

Jingoism has killed a lot of Americans unnecessarily.

The colors of the flag mean: "Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, explained the significance to Congress when he presented the seal. “The colors,” Thomson said at the time, “are those used in the flag of the United States of America. White signifies purity and innocence. Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue… signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.”" While many have bled for, and on, our flag, the red in the flag was never to signify blood.

Yes, many veterans came home and were spit on. The vast majority weren't. The worst though were those that bought deferments for bone spurs and other trivial complaints. The one who called those held in horrendous prison camps "losers". It's funny how some people that hold this man up as a hero ignore his insults to veterans. To those wounded. To those who didn't come home. And when some people clearly state that they disagree with the abuses of the government, they are the ones called traitors.

If you want to take a knee, go for it. I don't; I stand with my hand on my heart. But I do it from my own volition, not because I have to. If someone wants to make an issue of whether or not I stand for our anthem then it is they who has the problem.

Those who whine the loudest didn't serve.

We should be very concerned.

Thanks for the lengthly post.

Thanks for your service,Tommy 2

Many of these althletes do more volunteer work individually than the rest of the nation combined. Take a look at the NFL’s Walter Payton award winners for some examples. How do you measure up?

Yes, you should be very very concerned. We Trump supporters might just return this country to the same values and principles that your father and grandfather enjoyed in the 50's........

You should be very afraid as long as rampant immigration continues unchecked. Your grandchildren are going to grow up under Sharia law and bowing down to face the east several times a day.....

As a guy who spent 43 years in uniform, who went to war, who loves our nation, I wholeheartedly agree with you comments.

You fool!

You forget Obama saved the nation from a complete economic collapse! He reversed the runaway spending spree that is being reinstituted by this do nothing President! Obama gave the nation healthcare which is being taken away as I type. there was little or no corruption in his administration and no one went to jail as there will be in this administration.

You sir have no grasp on reality!

What a complete moron you are! If the country had been stupid enough to elect Hillary we would have had 4 more years of a "do nothing" presidency. She represents nothing more than a paper tiger who wants to be queen of the US similar to the Queen of England. All that your leftist gov't has done is to drive us further and further into an open border country that would become more Muslim everyday. Our Muslim president did everything that he could to infiltrate gov't offices with Muslims. As far as learning Russian, I'll take the Russkies anyway over the Muslims. At least the Russians are civilized whereas the Muslims are still many centuries away from civilization. However with your thinking, your grandchildren are going to grow up under Sharia law and bowing down to face the east several times a day..... Think about the legacy that you would be leaving them with........ What a complete moron you are!

So right. I would rather "stack the federal benches" to the left. Way left. That would be better. By the by what does this have to do with the knee thing?

It has nothing about taking a knee, some people just have to make politics out of every thing. Poor souls.
