I had the Olympus M-5 and M10- first editions and never had any issues with either. However I had the Panasonic 100-400 mm lens and it was dead within 2 years after normal use.

I have had Olympus cameras starting in 2007 with the E-510, then an E-3, E-5 two OMD EM 1s and fianlly an OMD EM1 Mark 2. I had a problem several years ago with one of my EM1s when a non OEM battery died in the camera and the camera would no longer turn on. I sent it to Olympus and at a week's turnaround it was repaired and has worked ever since. My second EM1 refused to turn on while I was in the Amazon. Perhaps changing lenses in the high humidity caused the problem. It too was repaired and survived a subsequent humid trip to China. The Mark 2 has experienced no problems even surviving a fall from a tripod.

I shoot with the OM-D M-1 Mark II and an M-5 Mark II. I love them both. The features, weight, and design are wonderful. I love the Zuiko lenses. Sharp, contrasty, and very easy to carry. I moved to this system from my Sony due to weight primarily and speed. Any brand can have a poor representative. I had a Nikon whose mirror constantly hit the back of the 200mm lens.

I began using Olympus in 2001 with purchase of a digital point and shoot, Graduated to an Olympus bridge camera in 2004 and then a DSLR in 2007. I have had the E510 and E520 as well as the E3 and E30. Last year I rented an E5. I have four of their lenses. I have been happy with the quality of the picture and the performance of the lenses. Service was good because it was a fixed rate for repair so no surprises. However last year I discovered except for the E5 they were not repairing their old DSLRs. Then last October at PhotoExpo in NYC I was told they were not repairing the E lenses. This was confirmed recently by another Olympus user at a B&H event. I would have migrated to their mirrorless system if I could have used the old lenses to start with, but since the lenses are now obsolete I switched to Nikon.

Have had 5 Olympus cameras since 2006, still have 3 of them (Oly E30, EM5 v1 and EM1 v2) all in great working order. The other two were sold to make way for newer models but had no problems. I've only had two repairs on any of the fleet- once when my toddler grandson used one for a stepstool (my fault for leaving it in his reach) and the other one was the dial problems on the original EM1 which they fixed under warranty. My cameras get heavy use in all kinds of weather and conditions, are regularly subjected to the high heat/humidity of the southern US, and are well traveled. I don't baby them at all. My only complaint about service is the expense and time of having the sensors cleaned. I acquire a good bit of dust because I change lenses so much and am not all that precise I fear, so that one's probably on me too. Once they get out of extended warranty I clean them myself and hold my breath.

I have used a Panasonic DMC-G1 for 10 years and I have used Olympus lenses with that body with no issues. The olympus lenses are outstanding and among my favorite glass.

In November 2017, I bought an OM-D EM-5 Mii to replace the aging Panasonic body. I planned to take it on an annual hiking trip in May 2018. About 1 week before the trip an Olympus firmware update appeared, it added focus stacking that could be used with the 60mm Macro Lens. I installed the firmware update and it broke the camera.

No chatter on-line about the update being bad, I thought no big deal, it probably simply got corrupted during the download. I'll just re-install it. No way to do that. The Olympus Updater software does not allow one to re-install the same firmware. I contacted Olympus and they were very responsive. They said "it was not possible for corrupted firmware to be loaded because the updater would detect that and would not load it." "I would have to return the camera to Olympus for repair".

A week before the trip there was not enough time to do that. So when I got back from my trip, I sent it in. It took a full MONTH to get it back. The camera works fine. The repair ticket states: "installed latest firmware, no problems found".

The whole fiasco could have been avoided if the Olympus updater software would facilitate re-intallation of the latest firmware. This is fundamental to firmware maintenance, and a ridiculous oversight on their part. It shook my confidence in a company that seems on the surface, to be very modern and high tech.

Olympus needs to update their software to allow users to re-install the latest firmware.

When I decided to downsize from my bulky and weighty Nikon Kit, I went to Olympus and have used an EP1, an EPs1, an EM5, an EM1 and am now using a Pen F
Not a single one of these cameras have caused the slightest problem and I have to say I doubt the veracity of the person that tried to bad-mouth Olympus---

My first digital camera was a point and shoot Olympus. I loved it.. in fact I purchased another. It was treated right and lasted a very long time. The only reason for switching to Nikon was the deal that was available at the time I needed to buy something for a European trip. I would not hesitate to purchase another Olympus!

I tried an Olympus EM-5 and although I started to learn how to use it, I sold it, and other equipment to get a discount on my new Sony A7ll. However, I started to miss the Olympic product and jumped back in with the EM-5 Mark ll. So I now have what I feel are the best of both worlds: a full frame Sony and a Micro 4/3 Olympus!! Two great travel cameras, with excellent lens choices.

I love my little Olympus since I bought the EM10 MKI they have never failed me and I love how light the lenses are --I just got the Fuji XT100 and put a 18 to 135mm lens on it --it weighs a ton I might as well have stuck to my Canons DSLRs for the weight of this one --no thank you I love my Olympus

I got the E-PL1 long ago and upgraded to the OMD EM-5 when it first came out. Not a bit of trouble with either one.

I had a used Olympus that my son gave me. One day I used it to check the second cards from my trail cameras. When leaving I stopped to talk to the land owner and hung my camera on my door mirror in the hot sun, then discovering that I had locked my keys in the truck. Anyway, it took awhile to get to town and back. The camera didn’t work after that. I forget what the error said but when calling Olympus about it, the cost to even look at it was more than I wanted to pay. Whether it was the hot sun or just it’s time I don’t know, but I’ very careful about heat anymore.
