Alaska: dizzy bears.
Black bears (Ursus americanus) can run up a tree with surprising speed.Do not even think of outclimbing or outrunning them.Black bears are the only bears native to the North America.
Just exactly WHERE were you when you took these photos?
What did you have to do to be in position to take the photos?
Ya gotta love it when ya get a shot like these!
Love these shots.....the last one looks like he is smiling at the camera

I was at Anan Bear Observatory which is a glorified name for a wooden platform overlooking a rapid where bears like to fish.
Bears hate each other so they fight, size counts. Those who retreat like to climb this tree which is kind of handy. The platform is elevated on a rocky shore and the tree grows from below. When a bear climbs this tree he/she is only slightly above your line of sight. You can get to Anan from Wrangell by a boat, the season is July-August.If you want to learn more get a book "Anan" available at
www.stikineriverboks.com or I believe Amazon.
IVAN.... VERY THOROUGH/INFORMATIVE FEEDBACK.
Your photos capture your 'close to Nature' experiences
superbly well.... I would encourage you to include
explanatory in-depth captions with your photographic
contributions... Thanks!
I like the eye contact of the second one. Great shot's Ivan!

Thanks for the feedback Bill.I did poll UH members on the subject and those who responded liked the idea to have a story with the photos. When I done so the response was not worth the extra time and effort.Just about every photo I am posting here have an interesting story going with it but after my "test run" I decided to respond only to questions or to include only a brief info.
That second photo is just PRICELESS. That bears eyes and posture look like it is saying "I was only kidding"
That second shot really anthropomorphizes the bear. Great shot!
Third shot "Hey! Ya lookin' fer me?"
Good shots, all of them!

Great shots, the second one is like a look my dog gives when she's knows she has done something wrong.
There's a little picture on Facebook with a small child saying "But Santa, I didn't mean to". Looks like the second bear could say the same, thinking he's gettin' nuttin' for Christmas. Great photos!
