First of the 5 to go into J-Hook!!! Most likely will transform into chrysalis by tomorrow and then another week until the big reveal!!
This all happened so fast, I found the first three cats on Sunday, the other two yesterday.... they enjoyed being served fresh leaves daily... got fat and now....!!!!

Nice. I've never seen any Monarch cats around here, much less raise any. I do have Swamp Milkweed, Butterfly Weed & Clasping Milkweed in my yard, but never any insects on them other than aphids. That said, I have raised & released Gulf Frittilary Butterflies and a number of different moths.

It is exciting and what's more exciting is that a female monarch visited my milkweed this afternoon while I was getting my cats fresh greens!! Hope she comes back and leaves a big egg deposit!!

I think I'm on their migration path, at least that's what I was told... and last year when I first planted the Swamp Milkweed and not seeing any Monarchs in years in my garden.... they appreared!!! Last year I raised and released 23 Monarchs. This was a total surprise seeing 5 almost full grown cats and now in a week, I'll get to release another into the world... filled with pesticides!!! I'm sure raising the Gulf Frittilary Butterflies was a wonderful experience as well!! I spotted a female Monarch on my milkweed this afternoon while I was picking fresh leaves for the cats.... by the time I got my camera, she was gone, but I did get two shots with my cell. Hope she comes back and leaves some eggs!

Thanks for your visit and comment... greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, Corky!! I saw a female monach this afternoon on my milkweed, I hope she comes back and makes a deposit of eggs!!
I looked back at last year posts and I started this process in August, so actually I'm ahead of the game this year.
