I am interested in "Street Photography", although I feel I need advice from more EXPERIENCED "Street Photographers", especially the "DO's & Don'ts", and also a would a DSLR or P&S be more advisable.
I presently have a Nikon AFS-C DX D3300 with a 35mm, 50mm, 18-55, 55-200 lens.
I have read other Posts here at UHH, just would appreciate some "FRESH" insight and Advice on "Street Photography".

Leica M3, oh, you mean modern digital camera. The traditional focal length for Street Photography for APS-C format would be ~24mm. That is close to 35mm for a FF or 35mm Film camera. If I were to seriously get into Street Photography I might look at a good (high-end-ish) digital Rangefinder type camera. Leica, Canon, and Nikon have had such models. And I don't actually mean simply a P&S. There are a few actual rangefinders, similar in many ways to a MILC.

Canon M5 with EFm 18-55mm can't be beat.
Small discrete. The zoom smokes a fixed lens as it allows considerable versatility of quick composition in a very small compact and discrete lens.
If you need to compose by walking up and disturbing the subject then the shot is ruined. This allows for quick composition immediately upon observing the subject with out becoming obvious.
Try it you will love it.
An added bonus the camera takes all EF, EFs and EFm lenses ever made with 100% compatibility of function.

A lot of street photographers hang out in the Street Photography section: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-121-1.html
You might want to ask your question there. (Perhaps Admin can move this post for you)

I think your set with the D3300 and that 55-200 lens. That is a pretty light and small rig and the 55-200 allows good closeups without being in folks faces.

The Canon G1X III is a good street photography camera. It has a 24 megapixel APS-C sensor, a 15-45 2.8-5.6 lens, an articulated view screen and an electronic view finder, dual pixel AF, is weather sealed and it will fit in your pocket.

Very good article and why a camera like the M5 would be excellent with the very small size lenses available and rapid response and if needed the incredible DPAF for fast focus video or live view that is unavailable with any other system.

I had never seen that particular webpage before, and found it fascinating! I didn't scan it, I read it. And found nothing that I did not like and I agreed with everything.

I don't think of it as "street photography" but after reading that article it appears I'm one that does it. When we travel we walk the old town city streets and shoot. Even at Disney World!

The topic is "best camera".

Mine is the Sony RX100 because using it is so inconspicuous and the image quality is so good.

Go slow, to learn first and spend money later. Use your D3300 with that 35mm lens to start with.

You may eventually decide on a different camera, or perhaps just a different lens for the D3300. I would look for an even shorter focal length. Perhaps down around 18mm. For a different camera, I would go with an older used Fuji xt100f. But what you have will be perfectly fine to learn what would best fit your particular style.

Post your efforts to the Street Photography section here on UHH. You can ask for comments in general or about specifics. We get some great discussions, and have a number of terrific photographers. It is a gentle place and you will never get snide remarks or the bullying that can happen elsewhere.

Advanced compact or bridge cameras, now owned or previously owned (many still available from various venues),
that would be great for street photography:

Fuji X100F, X100T
Fuji X70
Canon SX50HS
Ricoh GRII
Nikon P7800, P7000
Contax G1
Leica M4, M6
Rollei 35, 35s

If you haven't seen the movie "Everybody Street" then watch it. They are the cream of the crop and use a bunch of different cameras. Use what you got...it's not about the gear.
