I finally got a couple of days to wander the North Laramie Basin just south of Casper. Ended up the first evening at the site of Carbon, WY. All that is left of this once thriving but isolated coal town are a few foundations and the cemetery. Walking among the tombstones it is painful to see the hard life these folks lived. The early death of so many children and the wives and mothers who also died young and were replaced quickly by others attest to the hard life of the early arrivers. I arrived late in the afternoon and decided to stay the night to record afternoon shots, night shots and early morning shots. I must say that the experience has realigned how much I complain about my life.
That's really a nice, well photographed and respectful series.

I agree with loosecanon, a very respectful serie. My favorite is the third one with the well done light painting and stars in the background.
Thank you, it was as lovely in life as the photo shows.

Love the last one.
Thank you for commenting, the lighting in the foreground was the tricky part.

I do wish I could convey the absolute quiet and expanse of that area of the country. Thanks for viewing the images.

This place deserves no less, the few remaining miners and their families still bury their dead here. When they are all gone this place will likely become a solitary reminder seldom visited.
