Very nice set, I do not see that any of these pics jump out as over processed.

Great pics. One of my big frustrations when I was a child was having parents who had no interest in history. We lived in southern Pennsylvania within short driving distance of Gettysburg, but never did any sightseeing. I had to go the Walter Reed hospital once in D.C., and the only "landmark" my father went by was a baseball stadium. Your kids will appreciate those trips all of their lives.

I'm the parent that is forever dragging everyone 20 miles out of the way to see the world's biggest, oldest, craziest whatever or proposing random trips just because I want to try my hand at taking pics of a specific subject matter. The husband and kids mostly suffer in gracious silence and I'm hoping that they will remember my quirks fondly when they grow up!

Lovely images. I find all these battlefields to be moving. Such bravery. Such loss. I never got to Gettysburg when I was doing battlefields.

I'm the parent that is forever dragging everyone 2... (show quote)

Hand each of them a camera if they are old enough to point and click. This includes the old "kid", the husband. Assign them areas around you to photograph. When you all get home, gather the shots on a flash drive. Stick the drive into the USB socket of a DVD player. Put out some snacks and drink. Do a critique session with all of them participating. You may be surprised as to how quickly they will get into it. (Be the first to laugh at your flubs.)

Don't really see any photo's that are over processed. History buffs will stand in awe when they overlook the battlefields where so many men lost their lives. When you go into the town of Gettysburg, you see old well kept brick buildings (that are now souvenir shops and restaurants ) with bricks chipped from gunfire. Incredible place to visit.

A great way to spend a weekend. Sightseeing historical sights is a wonderful way to show our children what the cost of freedom is. Took some of my grandchildren to Pearl Harbor a few years ago and when we came back they bragged that they saw where WWII started (Pearl Harbor and the Arizona) and where the war ended aboard the battleship Missouri. They still talk about it today. Great photos. Mahalo for sharing.

Thank you for the pictures, I visited there with my parents when I was in my early teens - neither my Dad or I knew at that point the family connection. I've been working with 2 of my cousins on the family genealogy. My father was born in 1916, he never knew his paternal grandmother, Sarah Middleton Wood, as she died shortly after his birth. Her older brother, Thomas R. Middleton, was a private in the New Jersey Volunteers who fought at one of the lesser known skirmishes at Bliss Farm in Gettysburg. The farmhouse changed hands several times, but during one of the exchanges Thomas was killed on 2nd day of the battle. I understand all of buildings are long gone, but there is supposed to be a marker. I've had health issues over the past three years, but I'm doing better and I plan to visit the site in the autumn.

Love the photos and as far as being over processed I personally don't see any glaring issues. I live about 25 miles from Gettysburg. It is one of my favorite sites to visit and do some photo work. You may also want to check out the Hershey Gardens. They usually haven some great flowers shrubs and a whole host of my things to photograph. I especially enjoy the Butterfly house and it is not that far from Gettysburg and very easy to get to. I love this area so much to see and do.

We took a trip out East with the kids. Don't know if they remember or what they remember... I was certainly impressed by, not only Gettysburg, but stopping at Valley Forge on the way to NYC. I forget all the places we took the kids, including this one. Thank you for bringing back some memories!
