Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR - Are You Happy With This Piece Of Glass?

Very good. A bit more distortion on the wide end than I like, but you can correct this in the camera or in PP if it bothers you. I had to make a slight adjustment in the focus fine tuning with mine (to +3) on my D810. I have lenses that I consider to be a bit sharper, but none more convenient.
Thank you for your comment.
I'm going to echo therwol. A very good lens to take if you don't know for sure what kind of subjects you will encounter and only want to go with one lens.
I have used this lens with my D800 since day one. First lens I reach for when traveling. Made exquisite 17 by 22 inch prince from recent Japan trip.

I bought this lens yesterday. It was a brand new kit lens (which the buyer of the camera didn't want), from a local camera store. The price was great ($799.00 Cdn.) and with the usual five year warranty.
In four days I will be in Newfoundland and will bring this lens, with a handful of my other lenses. In September I will be travelling to Austria and plan taking only one lens and it will be the new Nikon 24-120mm with my D5.
I am curious if you own this lens, are you happy with it?

The Nikon 24-120 is always in my bag. I got it thrown in when I bought a D750 years ago. I like this so much that when I bought my Nikon D500 outfit I got it with the Nikon 16-80 (on the D500 it has the equivalent focal length of a 24-120) and battery grip. With this package I got the battery grip for free and the lens for 1/2 price. Same when I got the 24-120 with the D750. (love those Nikon packages during the holiday season and other times of the year)
I do a lot of landscape photography, my two lenses are the Nikon 16-35 f4 and the 24-120 F4 cause they both take the same filter size, so when I mount my Lee filters I can switch lenses without changing the filter ring size.
Love the sharpness of this lens. Used it to take candid's at my son's wedding reception and I could not have been happier. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

I traded in my old version of this lens for the new one. I never used the old version because I found it to be really slow and not sharp. I decided to try this new lens on my D850 for a trip I am on as I wanted to carry less. I also decided to take my 70-200. (Glad I did). Jury is still out for me. I would prefer this lens to be a 2.8, even if it was larger. Initial observations, make sure your shutter speed is high enough to eliminate blurred unsharp images. I find this to be a bigger problem with this combination of camera and lens than my 2.8 lenses on my D5. I worry more about high iso on D850 than my D5. Your posting is timely as I am asking same questions as you are. Looking forward to hearing others’ experiences.

Good post Robert. BTW, the Nikon 70-200 is my favourite lens and the 300mm f/4E PF ED VR, a close second.
The 24-120 will be on the D5 and the 24-120 on my D850. I will also be experimenting with my 200-400 f/4, to see which camera is a better fit. Cheers.
I bought this lens with the D750 and battery pack kit at the end of May, 3 weeks ago. So far, it has performed very well. I used it to photograph NW Oregon 2 days after it arrived, then, my nephew's wedding. Last night, I shot my son's graduation wide-open and had to crop way in to get a decent "handshake-with-the-principal" shot. It held up sharp and clear. 90% of my shooting is done in this range, and I much prefer it to the similarly priced and sized 28-300. There are times when I really need the extra 4mm at the short end, and the extra f-stop at the long end.
Yes it is my goto lens, I keep it on the camera most of the time.. I love it.
If I didn't already have the tamron 24-70 G2 I would get it. I still want it, because I know this lens covers my shooting sweet spot. All the proof I need regarding this lenses performance can be found in the images by Cany143.

I own the older version and like it a lot.
Just returned from the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and Zion. D750 and the 24-120. Very pleased. Excellent all around lens.
