Hello!
I’ve been shooting for quite some time and like many of us the gear tends to build up. I’m looking to sell off some filters, other camera gadgets, and a couple remaining Sony e-mount lenses that I don’t use as much or no longer need doubles of.
Where do you all sell some of your small money gear? I’d love to get your opinions to help clear out some space. Any recommendations for fair prices and safe transactions?

Her in the Members Buy/Sell/Trade works great, and there is always Ebay.

For protection, I only do financial transactions via PayPal. You pay a %, but it is worth it for piece of mind and buyer/seller protection.

I use the UHH members Classified section often. To set a price, I take my cues from eBay “Sold” transactions, my own original cost, the condition and current utility of the item and some estimate of depreciation. To communicate, I use UHH’s PM system initially. When both the buyer and I are comfortable, we switch to email. I prefer PayPal, bank (cashier’s) checks or money orders to collect payment. I much prefer sending the item via USPS Priority Mail. In my experience, most UHH members are decent, honorable folks and the few who are not give their intentions away quickly. Good luck! /Ralph

Thanks for the responses! I’ve used eBay before with some success. And sometimes get more than places like KEH and other Camera stores. I’ve never tried to sell on here before. Maybe I’ll give that a try.

I can do PayPal but with the amount they take out, I would rather do money orders, or bank checks. Do you choose to ship after payments clear, and do you find that people are generally ok with that?

I do think most of the people here are trustworthy. I’ll give it a shot. Like I said, its mostly random pieces that I don’t have a need for anymore or don’t fit my current setup, but the gear is in good condition.

I try to sell here or e-bay. if you look to those stores that buy your used equipment, expect to be surprised how little you will be offered. yes, I know they have to make a profit, but sometimes it seems like they are out take advantage of you. won't say who, but I recently was offered 250.00 for a like brand new Sigma 100-400 lens. 275.00 for a flawless D7200 with 5200 clicks. I know I can get at least twice as much off e-bay. not knocking anyone. I usually buy from Adorama or B&H and have never had a problem. just realize you are not going to get what you think your gear is worth. I just sold the D7200 for 575.00 off e-bay.
