You are going to "h." A most interesting city. Lived in suburbs for 8 years. Father worked in Gulf building for Gulf oil. Many good suggestions.

P.S. "Pittsburg" sans "h" are in CA, KS, NH, and TX - not PA.

You can also get some nice cityscapes from Herr's Island. If you are into bicycling, make sure to ride some of the bike paths that run along the river in front of both Heinz Field, PNC Park and the prison. You may also want to check out the Allegheny County Courthouse and jail http://www.alleghenycounty.us/About/History/Courthouse-and-Jail.aspx

My wife and I are headed north in 2 weeks to Pittsburg. As first time visitors, we plan to catch a Pirate ballgame and go to the Pittsburg Zoo. I would like some other photo-op suggestions for the city (i.e. picturesque neighborhoods, downtown sites, etc.). Please give me some suggestions, it will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure to take your tripod and go up to Mt. Washington - Grandview Ave. overlook(s). IN good weather the view of the city is magnificent. Another good shot that can be taken by a front seat passenger through a clean windshield is of the city just as you exit the Ft. Ptt tunnel onto the bridge - gotta be prepared and quick for this one. There is also a West End overlook for a different view. Finally for the hiker, if you can find a parking spot - park on the western side of the West End Bridge (Carson Street) and walk onto the bridge for a good view of Point Park and its fountain. Welcome to the "Burgh" !

To begin with, be sure to spell PittsburgH correctly, or abbreviate it-- Pgh.
In addition to those you mentioned look for Phipps conservatory in the Oakland section of town. Also in Oakland is the U of Pitt (many interesting shots--in and out), e.g. the "nationality rooms". Right there is also Carnegie museum and art center.
Downtown/ Northside - "The Point" park where the 3 rivers come together and the BB and FB fields are.
Finally, take the Incline up to Mt Washington for beautiful scenes of the city and the rivers.
I have just scratched the surface. Pgh is truly a little known/appreciated gem of a city.
Would love to hear your impressions afterward.
ENJOY!

We took a trip in to the Strip this morning and passed Pamanti Bros. - the sign on the door said "open 24 hour/day".

Also, Smallman Street is torn up - urban renewal is getting ready to repurpose the warehouses on that street into something all the yuppies will approve of - it's slated to take 19 months but will probably be at least twice that. In the meantime parking is at a premium - we parked in a lot a block from Smallman - it used to be $5 but the operator is taking advantage of the situation and upped the fee by another dollar.
