So down to a quick reply...I was reading or trying to reread...the post.I just put way too thinking into this. And no...I am 71 (no excuse) and haven`t had a drop of liquor or 26 years. Drugs never did me any good so you could tack on another 10 years of abstance. So I think I was plain overthinking this question. On my part. Reading this kind of embarrasses me. It was only having the same exact camera as a back up. Was this foolish. NO I know no better camera to have a spare. If I write anorther question I hope it comes out more literate. Thank you for taking any time at all trying to decipher what I said. Reading it was a little bit of a challenge

Yes....gonna be a big yes...backup RX10 will be for my son to use. The menu itself will be a good lesson in photography...He will also have some very good images to inject some excitement in photography

This is much better. I would get that new Sony RX100VI if you want a back up camera. Just saw the press release tonight.

I have been on the phone with B and M, Canon Tech. Sony tech. Any good suggesation to where I can go. I realize that This is expensive I have given it too much thought.. The RX has been great...I couldn`t ask for more,,,Maybe a short yes or no and a short explination...This may be a foolish question....but It I don`t ask I may not get assistance. Thank you I will try to not feel foolish

An awful lot of banter and discussion to say a back up camera should match up with the camera you already have. Same exact model because you will grab the backup in a flash and if it is not the exact same camera you won't remember how to use it without it's manual. Especially with todays electronic devices. Just change you or upgrade your cell phone once and you will understand why. A garbled message seems to attract all the flies here on UHH better than honey.

Call me naive , if y'all wish but I feel that helping one and other should be a prime mission of a forum like this. Perhaps I am operating under a misconception.

So...a person poses a question that is unclear for whatever reason. Folks reading on have three options in the name of decorum, kindness, respectfulness, politeness and good manners. They could simply ignore the posting and get on to something else. They could provide an answere, some suggestions or a solution to the best of their understanding or simply ask the OP for clarification or further information. Instead, so many members opt for snarky quips, insulting remarks, and seem to resort to what amounts to bullying. Oftentimes theses folks then begin to bicker among themselves. The are not bickering about substantive
issues pertain toe the original question but rather each other's semantics or etymology.

Why not take the time and apply some patience in HELPING the original poster rather than wasting time correcting their English, critiquing their writing style or behaving like a bunch of self-important immature schoolchildren?

So many answers start off with "...don't make a big deal about it..." Why not just allow each responder to express themselves as the see fit- briefly or in a highly detailed manner and give the OP the benefit sorting out the information and coming to their own conclusions.

I am not talking about differences of opinion, good debates and opposing points of view on photographic, technical or artistic concepts- that's fair game if conducted respectfully.

Making fun of people is mean spirited!

I think you're asking for a recommendation for B/U camera. I suggest to get a camera that has similar controls if not identical. Shooting will be much simpler and rewarding.

Thank you. I've made this point a few times on these forums recently. There is a lot of bullying here.

I'm an ex-school teacher and IF you want to communicate with me, it's going to be in a clear, concise manner so that there is little possibility of any misunderstandings. I will not be a part of any cryptic, half-hearted laziness in attempting to write with poor grammar and haphazard spelling because you don't want to go back and proofread your typing. Take the time to do it correctly---in my opinion, one of the problems with today's lost art of conversation is due to the internet and cell phones. Too many folks want to slap something down on the screen and leave it to the reader to interpret-- because the sender is just too lazy to go back and correct their grammar. It really reflects on the author's intelligence and sincerity if they will pay attention to details. It's also very disrespectful to the members of this forum to just sling crap onto the screen hoping to get an interpretation and an answer. I'm not asking for "A" work. And, by the way, you have at least 3 misspelled words in your post above.
