Try asking the question with something like "I have a Sony RX10M4 and I am looking at getting a backup camera. I have looked at this camera, that camera and the other camera, and I like to shoot XYZ subject matter." At least that will give us a clue as to what your actual question is.

Yes, a backup camera is a good idea. If you get a older, used version of the RX10, you will be familiar with the controls. Read reviews and comparisons and decide what you want. Then go to a reliable online seller and order it.

Yes! Get a backup camera, that is, especially if you do a significant amount of photography and travel to far off placed with you gear. Cameras are electronic/mechanical devices and even the very best of them can malfunction and that usually happens at the most inopportune times.

If you now own a DSLR, you may want to enjoy the advantages of a mirrorless camera and conversely, if you have a mirrorless system you may like the TTL advantages of a reflex system. If you are totally satisfied and used to operating your present camera- buy another one or the latest upgrade of that model if it has more or better features. Consider a system with compatible lenses or adaptable ones so that your present investment in lens inventory is conserved. Some photographers like to shoot with two cameras to avoid changing lenses in difficult, rushed or inclement weather conditions.

Calling every dealer and manufacturers representatives won't help very much except for price points. Each retailer or company will promote there own products or the ones the wish to sell. YOU have to decide based on you budget and you individual requirements.

I am a professional photographer and have been at it for a very long time, however, I do not know the features and price points of every camera and system- there are folks here who are more gear oriented as to what's currently on the market. I make changes or augment my equipment inventory based on practical needs and or production and/or work quality improvement. When I decide to make a change or an addition, I simply research the features and prices and make decisions based on those factors.

Yes or no questions are OK for surveys. Serious purchases of expensive equipment deserve
some discussion and advice, but YOU need to make the final decision. Don't flip a coin or ask a non-photographer family member- apply logic, common sense and your intelligence.

Good luck!

Buy the camera that fits your life style... not everyone needs the abuse of DSLR with many pounds of lenses. While this RX10M4 will not fit in your pocket it is an all in one bridge with a large sensor, 1". There are times when paying more than you have planned is lower cost in the long run. That is to say the one excellent camera is with you for a long time vs buying two lesser cameras and never being quite satisfied.

Sony is a fine camera company known for innovation and has many awards for innovation. Nikon and Canon have a fine reputation, but you take photos with a camera not with reputation. I have read that the accountants at Canon is to the company advantage to cut R&D and copy competition a year later. There are many other camera brands...some models are excellent.

My life has been spent in Management, but I am hands on tech type. Contrary to most, i do not look at processes start to finish... instead I look from finish to start. Using the same technique on camera choice works well also. If you define what you want... that is to say... if all you want is good 4x6 photos the camera chosen if different from the man who wants minmum of 11x14 ... very obvious for printers of course.

So define what size and quality and portability you want to live with and produce. Once defined you work back to define the camera choice. [Of course $$ enter in, no need to be a starving artist]

It appears that all of the stores are charging the same price. The only difference would the inclusion of shipping & handling, and sales tax.
So it comes down to the question “Who do you want to do business with?”

Sorry. I didn’t think the op’s question was originally in English. I was being sarcastic but didn’t mean to offend. After reading the responses, I now Understand the question.

Sorry,

If your question had been delivered in one or two clear sentences, it might have been possible to give you a helpful answer.

Is a "backup camera" absolutely needed? No! Is it desirable? possibly. I have a Nikon D610 and a Nikon D7100. If either fails, then I always have the other. Yes I COULD make do with either but its nice to put a 50mm lens or a 35mm lens on the D610 and know that I am getting a true image rather than working around the 1.5 multiplier on the D7100. However the reverse is true if I'm shooting longer shots. I love putting my 80mm-400mm on the D7100 and getting a roughly 120mm to 600mm equivalent. Yes, I know that I have enough megapixels to crop it to that image, but using the longer zoom lens and the multiplier, I get the full DX and it gives me the advantage of keeping a wide angle to 50mm on the FF camera and then I carry two and always have the "right" lens on without changing lenses.

Is a backup camera necessary? It depends. In my case, which is the backup? I use both to each's advantage and take advantage of the additional reach of the DX and the normality of the FF. Sure, I could put the D610 in Crop mode, but this way I dont have to take the time, worry about forgetting its in crop mode or anything else. Also, both cameras use EXACTLY the same battery, so I don't have to scrounge to make sure I picked up the correct battery.
