LR - Capture Date/Time question.
In the 'metadata' section under 'Capture date' where can I find the 'Original' capture date/time of the pic? It keeps changing to the last edited date and I can understand why but I want to know when I actually took the pic.

In the metadata section, set your type to EXIF & IPTC to display as much as possible... (arrow)
The metadata date is the edited date.... (circle)
The Date Time is the original taken date & time... (square).
BTW - on import I rename all my files to include my initials, year, month day, & time captured, so no matter what changes within my EXIF for each image, the original date and time are part of the file name, I did not do this specifically to retain date and time, but to have unique names for every image.
Also - Lightroom does not display or have access to all the metadata, there are additional plugins that can get to all the metadata contained within the image, look at EXIFTool and the EXIF plugins offered b y Jeffery Friedl.
Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Which version of LR? On Classic all i see is original date and no "capture date" selection under metadata with exif
LR CLASSIC To the left of the "Metadata" tab in the Library Mod. click on the up/down arrows and choose "default". Then you will see "Capture Date and Time."

I do the same and for the same reasons (except I include Camera name instead of my initials and leave the original name) but also because if you have more than one Canon camera, you will have one camera's image file overwriting another camera's file (this from bitter experience). I am unsure why Canon uses the same file names for all of its cameras but it is very irritating.
