Getting emphasis right on shaded iguana

This shot, from an iPhone, interested me, but I had to do a lot of post processing to bring out the iguana and downplay other things. What do you think? Perhaps the umbrellas, which I want to kept as part of the scene, too light? Iguana just right or over- or under-emphasized?

What a fun, engaging photo! I empathize with wanting to keep a lot of the "stuff" - MinnieV calls it kitchen sink photography and I do it often myself

I don't have a problem with the brightness so much as the clarity. Have you tried a version with the background softened a little more?

I think the Iguana looks good. I'm not sure the umbrellas and anything. But, if you want to keep them I would make them fade more into the wall.

If you lighten and blur the foliage around the head, the eye is drawn more towards the whole iguana. As I viewed the original, my eye was drawn to the hind quarters first. ??? A really neat shot.

Congratulations, Bob on starting a new section. Moderating your own section is going to be a big challenge; but you have a sound idea and boundless enthusiasm. I'll be visiting often and I wish you all the best.

Nice shot. Tweaking varies according to each individual's taste, of course, but I would suggest reducing clarity slightly for the iguana and significantly for the background. I think the iguana appears a little too contrasty, and the background would benefit from greater softening. To further separate the iguana, I would also darken the background somewhat, especially the umbrellas. It's a fun image to play with. Thanks for posting.
