Actually, that is a Northrup T-38 Talon. . . . .

I stand corrected, Jerry. Eagle eyes, you are! Did you fly these aircraft?

A few moments to waste??? You apparently put those few moments to very good use. Have fun with the paperwork.

As far as bases go- Barksdale is certainly one of the better looking places. Though, some are of the opinion the Air Force spends their money on looks, the Army on weapons and the Navy on penicillin...

I wouldn't know 'bout any of that...

...and you're right, HOT! but not today...

I lived in Northern Maine when Loring AFB was still active.....they seem to like to use our Main Street for bomb runs (or so it seemed)!

Stan,

No. Was an Air Traffic Controller in the USAF for 20+ years and have worked in the aviation industry for over 40 years. I am also a pilot and have an affinity for aircraft. I've seen or been around pretty much every airplane the US military has flown, including that Boeing KC-97.

Cheers!

Great shots,

Shreveport and Bossier City Louisiana are great places to visit and live. Barksdale has a lot to offer in the way of planes and the 8th Air Force museum. Not to mention one of the best air show and open house you will ever experience during "Holiday in Dixie".

I was raised in Shreveport, but now a transplant to Michigan.

The second aircraft is a T-38 from Vance AFB, OK. During the Air Force undergraduate pilot training program the students will fly an “out and back” training sortie to Barksdale AFB and back to Vance AFB for training.

Just love them birds. Seeing them in flight is like bringing music to my ears. USAF retired. Mahalo for sharing.

Fuminous, I love the face off photo. The foreboding light and perspective is really fantastic.

I agree, John

Yes, the BUFFS are pretty common place along with the occasional B-1B and B-2.. I miss seeing the A-10’s, though. I always consider the sound of the Big Birds coming and going as the Sound Of Liberty. God bless ‘em!
