Don't blame the schools or the teachers. If a teacher so much as says a cross word to little Johnny or Susie, mom and dad will be in the principals office early next morning wanting the teacher keel-hauled and fired right now. 'Cuz there little baby couldn't possibly do anything wrong...
Harry,
My wife taught school for 30+ years, and one of my sisters also taught school. I'm not saying that all the teachers are doing a crummy job, but the curriculum that have to use is a far cry from being educational. Compare educational scores between US students, and kids from other parts of the world. The current school system, and the new breed of teachers today are way different than those when you and I went to school. Home schooling is at an all time high for a reason, and those kids usually score higher when tested than those would went to public school.
Or the one person that jumps the barrier at Vernal falls in Yosemite that kills himself and his girlfriend and another trying to save his life.

These are the same group of people that you hear about in the news that jump over the barrier at the zoo to get closer to the bear!
There are many pictograph and petroglyphs in Sego Canyon that have been damaged including this one. What gets me is people who mark the art! Fences are not the answer, only education can deal with vandalism. I realize that you can't teach everyone and there will be damage from people.
Great photo except for Butthead.

Barrier rules exist for idiots like this one.

You're sadly mistaken about him disrespecting a national treasure. In reality, he's respecting it very closely having circumvented a disrespectful barrier put up by the park service; also known as God of the Wilderness Stolen From the Aboriginal Peoples. Look up the word respect to find it means to look well toward. IMHO, disrespecting the petroglyphs would be defacing them. Maybe you need to let go of your control freaking and enjoy life a bit more or you may choose to remain miserable. That's everyone's choice many times every day, so try and respect yourself and breathe deep instead of panting. It's a lot easier on the blood pressure and heart, friend.
It's the ME generation. Selfish, self-absorbed, everyone gets a trophy generation. The rule do not apply to them.

I am not sure what he is doing, but it looks like he is trying to figure out how to get closer. As a part Native American (Trail of Tears) maybe we should all get together to dig up Arlington, or maybe where your ancestors are buried? Not really, but silly seeming rules sometimes have a good purpose in the real world.

Wow, did I hit a nerve with the has been warlords with high blood pressure? The next thing I imagine is to hear someone's dysfunctional blame laying for BOZO having his heart attack when he was only 80 lbs. overweight from a high LDL producing diet and lack of activity, but carry on; and on; and well you know. Personally, I am young 66 years and find 85% of the population dysfunctional and intolerable with no self-awareness and it's usually the crotchety over-fed idiots with a heart condition they've caused themselves over 5-6 decades that think they're the judge of all things and are waiting to go to a better place. Well, why not just go now quietly without being such a KILLJOY. Bye-bye misery. To me, that young man is quite taken and absorbed in the study of what's left from a time before the dysfunctional immigrants came to this land to annihilate the people, the bison, the rivers to create a park it's called. Better that kind is in the grave for there only cure is death and as is well known, one dies as one lives; or doesn't.
