Ok, I got up the nerve to finally try to post a couple of photos I took. I used a Canon 760D, with a Canon 70-200 Lens. I am a complete amateur and only starting learning photography a few months ago. So let me know what you think, what I can do to improve, what you like or dislike. Thanks in advance for the critique. Tony.

The second is beautifully crisp and most worthy of a post. Give the first one a look and see if you notice how soft it is by comparison, especially around the bird's head. It looks as if you or the camera did not focus correctly. Many of us live by the motto "Don't show your mistakes," here meaning basic mechanical mistakes like focus and exposure, as opposed to, say, composition, which is at least partially a judgment call. I hate to be harsh, but most of us would simply throw away that first one. But the second one looks great. Show us more of those, and have fun!

Thanks for your honesty. I was wondering what went wrong with that first shot but did not realize it was focus.

Welcome, Tony! I agree the first one is soft on focus. The second one is much sharper plus the lightning is very nice. It brings out the color and shine of the bird's feathers. Please post more of your images...you'll get good advice here!

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. One rule of thumb that most of us follow is "no eye, no photo" meaning that a sharply focused eye makes the picture. Picture one is out of focus and the eyes are in such deep shadow that, even if they were in focus, they wouldn't be visible. For both of those reasons, most people would just delete that photo. Number two is very nice but could use a little more exposure in the wing area to get some color there instead of just shadow.
