Very good photos. Do you have more? (And they were up to date when you took them.)

Thanks for the additional shots. These are the kind of photos that will be remembered and reviewed long after our usual stuff is lost in the memory hole.

Sadly, the issues are still with us. I lived North of the Madison street riots in Chicago. A month later, it put me South of the Division street riots. Both were self-destructive riots.

Great historical street photos. These are always timeless.

Yes, I remember those riots. I was in the Navy at the time and had to go downtown to get the Greyhound bus back to Norfolk, VA. It was a little scary, but it worked out OK. I used to live in Baltimore County, now I'm in Harford County.

I don't know if like is the appropriate comment, but I find the one with the Chow Mein sign in the upper left hand corner to be especially meaningful.

Thank you very much for posting these, and if you come up with any others please put them up!

And I would think there is some organization there in Baltimore that would be interesting in having copies of these.

Coming from Europe I am not familiar with US uniform styles. Are those guys in the Chow Mein picture and in the truck on the top set, military or National Guard?

At the time, they were National Guard. The "military" were/are Federal troops. This would require an action by U.S. Congress for local use of Federal troops, including Federal reserve troups..

Thanks for clearing that up, both Stephen G and Sgt hop. This is a photography forum and I shouldn't deviate away from that but I am curious and hope you can indulge me in just one more point. It is my understanding that Bush II abolished Posse Comitatus as part of the Military Commissions Act 2006 but later Obama amended some parts of it. Baltimore predates this by almost 40 years and this doesn't apply here. My simple question is, does Posse Comitatus still stand as part of US Federal Law or not. Thanks.
