Once I got a Fusion drive iMac of course I just install on the Fusion Drive and use the TB external SSD for temp files and raw cache for PS & LR.

I was told that, when I asked Apple, I could not tell the computer which drive to install an app on. So can you tell me how you did it? Thanks.

On a dedicated SSD, you can install, or move apps, but on a FusionDrive you can’t, the OS determines what goes on the SSD portion based on use.

The actual OS files I believe always resides on the SSD portion, so the bigger the SSD part of the Fusion drive the better

Finder shows a Fusion drive as one logical drive, so there is no drive split, but physically it is just two drives merged together

On the recommendation of my local camera club, Ventura County Camera Club, I signed up ($10/mo). The downloads were seemless and with the subscription you get constant updates and tips. Seems to be working out fine! I'm a happy snapper ;-) Dick
