Hi all,

I am new in the photography world and I am experiencing some challenges and I was wondering if I can get some feedback from all of you who are pros in the subject. I have the Cannon 5D mark III and the cannon 50mm 1.2 but I am still getting used to use it. I have read the manual but certain things do not make sense yet. Here is one, I have the camera set to manual mode and I select the aperture and Sutter speed but if I move from place to the other where there is change in light I have to set the shutter speed again in order to get a correct exposed image. I was wondering if this is normal.
I am also having some focus issues. I know I have to focus on the eyes if I am shutting portraits but sometimes the pictures come up kind of blurry.
I also signed up for Lightroom to be able to edit the pictures taken and I've been watching some youtube videos to learn how to edit.

What do you all think I should do to get better? I will post some samples of what I've done so far. Any positive or negative feedback will be appreciated.

You have a very good eye for photography, make sure you follow the rule of thirds though. The answer to your question is yes to changing shutter and aperture in different situations, that is normal as well as required.

That is the way manual works. In any auto mode the camera would make the change for you.

"I am also having some focus issues"

That could be a number of things including not holding the camera steady enough for the shutter speed.

Hi all, br br I am new in the photography world ... (show quote)

You don’t say anything about ISO. What are you doing there? As for portraits you will get the best sharpness by ising a tripod.

Suggest using a tripod and repeating shots for comparison. The only other thing I can think of besides a mechanical problem is a maybe shutter speed too slow? Good composition though.

I was using ISO 200 or 400 depending on the light

Does somebody, perhaps school system or camera store, offer classes?? You would benefit from systematic instruction.

There are many good photography classes on the internet as well as good camera stores like Houston Camera Exchange offer good classes. Classes offered in the school system are likely to be a disappointment.

Hi all, br br I am new in the photography world ... (show quote)

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Hedgehog Zone. Welcome!

Internet has zero quality control - half of it is wrong, and someone who needs the instruction doesn't know which half.

They do if you go with the known expert instructors.
