First of all let me say, for 10 years or so, I have used Amazon, and loved everything about doing business with them, EXCEPT on this one deal. I went to sell them a totally perfect Nikon 85mm micro DX, VR lens. I sent them a perfect lens with all the accessories and original box and papers. You could not tell from brand new. They sent it back saying it had light scratches and dust. I called them and they said someone must have made a mistake to resend it back to them. I did. Today I get it back saying it had hard usage. I looked at this lens with a microscope and could not find a single scratch anywhere or anything other than a brand new looking lens. I even checked the glass and found nothing. Am wondering if anyone else ever had a similar problem or any comments. They did give me a $50 credit for my troubles. It also cost them the freight four times. They were supposed to pay me first $296 the first time and $306 the second time. I could get that on Ebay! What do you think is going on? Thanks Bob
Sounds like the quality of people hired has gone down.

I purchased a new ‘98 Corvette convertible and some time later took it to the selling dealer for first service. Car was all shinny and bright when I dropped it off. Picked it up later and drove over to the BMW dealer to discuss a station wagon. I parked the Vette in front of the showroom windor, and while speaking with the BMW dealer, he asked what all the powder looking stuff was along sight lines. I went out to examine this and found the remnants a of a really bad wax job. Drove back to the Chevy dealer a bit hot under the collar and inquired about this. An hour or so later, I departed without a satisfactory answer.
From that point on, I always had the service writer go out and inspect the car. Never happened again.
Just curious. If you can get them for that price on Ebay, how much were you expecting them to give you?
Since you did get your lens back, maybe they are seeing something you are missing. Have somebody else take a look.

Lens sells on Ebay 300 used. New it is 600. Amazon offers 300 in perfect condition and sells for 400

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I gave up the Vettes and went with a BMW.
That's strange for Amazon. I just read an online article today, that Amazon is searching for another city, to add to an already headquarters. Plus, hiring an additional 50,000 new employees nationwide. I've heard the occasional eBay problems, but they are rare too. If your lens is in such good condition, you might have had an instant buyer, right here on this forum, with a price near what you wanted, in the Buy/Sell/Trade Section. Glad you did get your real lens back though.

The Amazon I know doesn’t buy lenses. Are you thinking Adorama?
Go to Amazon. Click on a regular Nikon lens. scroll down a little and click on trade. They offer trade (buy) in your product on lots of popular items they sell. They offer Amazon credit based on a series of questions they ask you.

Sorry, can’t find any such thing on Amazon. Once again, are you SURE you don’t mean Adorama?
Go on Amazon. Put in Nikon 85mm micro DX VR lens for about $526. When on the lens page, scroll down a little and see TRADE IN NOW on lower right hand side of page above other sellers
