I'm not good at this type of image, so please critique severely. Thanks

The colors are fabulous, but what is the image trying to say? When you took the shot, where did you envision the viewer's eye would be drawn? Also, the water at the bottom, because there is so little of it, is kind of distracting and doesn't, IMHO, advance the emotion of the shot. The same might be said for the little patch of blue on the right. My eye was drawn to that since it is so different in color and tone from the rest of the shot. But that's easily remedied by cropping it a bit. Overall, I think the main issue with this shot is composition and moving the viewer towards the place you want them to focus. Keep shooting, amigo!

It's a good shot of the available moment; one must realize the moment. The Pacific offers so many sunsets, and with variations ranging from down San Diego way, up to Seattle. One of our favorite places is just north of Fort Bragg, where we have spent many family summer moments, and where the offshore fog bank sits, sometimes close, and sometimes far out.

Thanks very much for your insights. I need to think more about composition. I'll keep shooting.
