For anyone that cares:

My iMac came with a Magic Mouse. I have had a laptop for several years and the mouse wasn't cutting it.

You can order a portable track pad for the iMac and it feels like the built in one on a laptop. It is quite large, doesn't slip around on the desk and works fantastically with touch sensitivity across the pad.

It’s all I use, except for a Wacom for editing.

I use a Magic Mouse AND a trackpad (yes, on an iMac, you can use multiple input devices. The only problem seems to be that my trackpad uses batteries, and more batteries, end even more batteries...... And I need to put a large pointer sticker to point to the on/off indicator light (Damn, it’s small), and to often I forget to turn it off.

I have two iMacs and have been using the trackpads for eight years. Other than a Wacom Tablet, it is the only way to fly.

The newer versions are rechargeable. I highly recommend having both the mouse and trackpad along with the rechargeable keypad. I am also TRYING to get used to using a Wacom Tablet. Best of luck. Happy New Year!

I spent 18 years using both trackpads and mice. Each has merit. Keep your mouse handy...
