My D7200 was a refurbished unit and I was hapoy with it. Sold it and bought a refurbished D500. But as others pointed out.. for $50 difference I’d buy NEW!!!

One pays for peace of mind. Personal choice.

Yes. For the difference of $50.00 vs the longevity of the product. I would spend the extra money

Hey guys I am going to purchase a Nikon D7200 one way or another. After a lot of pricing research I see Cameta has a refurbished at $749 with a 1 year warranty and a few other sites have new at about $800. The same body and accessories with the 1 year warranty. It's not so much the $50 savings, I would probably add a remote shutter release anyway, but why spend more for the same thing? Plus Cameta has been my go store for awhile. I have never bought a refurbished body before. I have bought 2 refurbished lenses from Cameta before with excellent results so what do you think? Thanks and Happy Holidays.

B&H had the D7200 and the 18-140 lens for around $1,050 yesterday. That is a good offer also.

Hey, personal choice. Both are good. For me, I usually buy new bodies and used lenses. I like the one year warranty cause I take a lot of pictures and if something goes wrong it is usually after a while. So, body new, lens old, for me.

I'd go with new too, I do think when a major brand works on a returned defective camera they'll go through it with a little more diligence and recheck every system better than the production line during manufacture.

I usually buy manufacturers refurbished cameras. The reason is because of the price difference in a refurb vs new. But,as others have stated, for $50 more- go new.

Royce, they are great to deal with. Not only when making a purchase, but also in trade in values. I have found, when trading in a body or lens, if you are making a purchase of a similar item, they are willing to give a little more for your trade in. Their warranty on refurbished is excellent, although I have never had to use it. They are also my go to store right now. Good luck with your purchase - I love my D7200 - and happy shooting as well as best wishes for happy holidays!

Nikon Refurbished or Dealer Refurbished? That is probably the main issue at any price.

Cameta Camera sells Nikon factory refurbished products and is an authorized Nikon dealer!

Royce, my vote is along the lines of Kmgw9v. For the small difference, purchase a new one. One bit of guidance I'd additionally offer. If you do purchase a refurbished camera, here's a couple of things to keep in mind. Ask if it has a US serial number. If they can't tell you make sure they'll accept a return if it doesn't.

All my gear, except the Sony is refurbished. I only buy from the manufacturer, Canon. They give a one year warranty, same as new units. Good Luck!

Cameta, as you very well know is a reputable store with an excellent customer service. With a difference in price between a refurb and a new camera of only $50 I would go for the new camera.
This small difference in price is to me a surprise because there is usually a significant reduction in price when comparing refurb and new.

I used to buy only new, until I had a conversation with a Canon service tech. A FACTORY refurb has the same warranty as new. The big difference is that on any factory refurb, each and every function has to be checked and verified which is not the case with new. Only every so often is an item pulled out of production and checked to the core. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I bought my D7200 in September from Cameta and it had just 240 shutter actuations. It looked just like new, and has worked perfectly. That said, I know some people have received refurbs with several thousand shutter clicks, so for $50 more, I would go with the new unit.

I agree with the majority,$50 isn’t enough justification for this purchase. That being said, I’ve owned 4 Nikon cameras, all bought used, not even refurbished. The only problem I ever had was from dropping it! Used photo pro,mpb and, I think, keh all provide 6 month warranties and the savings ARE justification against new. All the used cameras I bought had between 7-10,000 actuations, barely used. Just don’t drop it!! P.S. The aforementioned drop occurred 2 weeks ago. I sent it to Nikon and had it back in a week! ( $261 ) But it was quick!
