I still have my D7100. I looked at both— and chose Fuji. I tried the Sony, but it just didn’t resonate with me. If you like retro with easy to use functionality the Fuji may be your choice.

I recently took my Fuji with the 18-55 lens to France for 10days. “One camera/one lens.” I recommend it for those who enjoy travel and want to take photographs without hiring a Sherpa, stressing about gear....

Which Fuji are you talking about, Lone...the x100f is a fixed 23mm lens

They are 2 vastly different cameras. The Sony is much more versatile and has a lot more bells and whistles. The Fuji is much nicer and much easier to use. The Fuji doesn't have scene modes or AUTO mode which is a plus.

The X100F does have an auto mode, utilized by setting the lens aperture to “A”, the ISO to “A”, and the Shutter, you guessed it, to “A”. There ya have it, fully auto mode. Having said this, the X100F encourages you with its simplicity of manual large dial controls rather than many menus to go at least partly if not wholly manual.

Currently shooting Nikon D7100 with a good array of 4 dx lenses...happy with that and not looking to upgrade in the dslr category. But I have found myself wanting to grab a quick camera, less weight and pieces, for the family special event, vacation, and grand kids without pulling out the Big Bag of Gear.

After researching for few months, I was about ready to pull the trigger on the Fugi X100f, as it rated higher in almost every category in the aps-c compact camera class (I do not want a 1" sensor camera), and with actual shooters/owners who love the camera. Then I thought about the Sony a6300 being aps-c, kind of rangefinder style, and not much bigger with a prime pancake lens. The link below is the comparison on DP Review of the two, which gives me almost a tossup, spec-wise.

So I wanted to defer to the board wisdom, knowledge, thoughts, and actual usage that might help me tilt the scales one way or the other. Both are good cameras and I don't really think either is a bad decision.

FWIW ~ I've not seen Fujifilm's in-camera raw conversion feature mentioned on this thread (probably because few on "the Hog" would have any need of, or use for, it). I'm a fan of it.

There are other Fuji cameras with similar “rangefinder” style as the Sony.
I’ve had the X-E1, which I took on a trip to Europe about 4 years ago and will do it again this summer, though I now have the Fuji X-E2. The 18-55 is really top-notch, but they have other lenses, including a 27mm “Pancake” lens, plus you can adapt other lenses to it.
I like using the Nikon 85mm 1.8 on mine.
Fuji’s menu system is the most intuitive I’ve ever used. I went weeks before opening the manual.
They just came out with the X-E3.
Probably not your cup of tea, but there is also the X-Pro 1 & 2 which are bigger, more expensive and have a hybrid optical/ electronic viewfinder like the X100 series and it uses the same interchangeable lenses as the rest.
They all remind me of old film cameras, with shutter and aperture dials right there where you can see them.

I loved the X100, but found the fixed lens a bit limiting on trips.

They also make some more compact mirrorless interchangeable bodies, but they have no eye-level viewfinders. XA-1 I think.

Fred Miranda Is a great place to find these for sale.
I have bought and sold most of my gear there and all of my Fuji cameras.

Snapsort is a good place to compare features, but some parts of the weighting system isn’t relevant, in my opinion.

Besides the X-100, there is also the more compact Fuji X70 with a fixed 18mm lens (27mm FF equivalent), but no built-in optical finder.
Fuji made ONE to put in the accessory shoe, but they don't come cheap.
Canon made one (for a 28mm FF lens) you might find for less.
The X70 has been discontinued, but still an good option. I personally like the idea of the wider lens of the X70 over the 23mm of the X100.
One for sale on Fred Miranda for $525.
