That'd be the D5 then, unless the drop in resolution is a deal-breaker for you.

Sorry, did not see this...

D5 is the upgrade to the D4...

The D8##c hopefully will also be upgraded if not remade from ground up as the D300 and D4 were...

If the D8##c is not upgraded, I guess I will get rid on the D800e and replace it with another D500. I will miss the pixel density bit heck that camera (D500) is just too good.

I don't know about the bells and whistles of the cameras that you mention, but I do know that the D5 was seen as the big brother to the D500, and the sensor of the D5 was seen as being in the same vein as the D500's but even better. And both cameras boast similar fast auto focus and similar processors. In other words the D5 was seen as the full frame version of the D500.

D500 Crop Sensor 20.9 MP $1996.95
D5 Full Frame 20.8 MP $6496.95
D810 Full Frame 36.3 MP $2796 with Discount. Saw for $2599 at Christmas time from Nikon

D820? Full Frame 36.3+ MP around $3100+ when it comes out (All Speculative)

With these numbers decisions many times are decided on the price. I for one would like the D5 but will never spend that kind of money. I have a d750 full frame and if and when I upgrade it will be a D820 or version thereof.
