Thanks! I use Canon and I will look into Peterson's other book.

Then you should also check out the "Speedlighters Handbook" by Syl Arena, it is "customized" for Canon shooters! There are two editions (both are worth reading)!

Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. Best book on exposure problems on the market.

I am looking for a book with more technical aspects perhaps with examples. To explain dynamic range, histograms, light metering, white balance, exposure compensation. With both examples of how they work and how it affects the photo and or photos being taken. Any suggestions thank you and in advance hogs.

The New Zone System by Minor White may help based on your list of requirements. It was written way before digital photography was available but it still fills the need. The other books are all by Ansel Adams, "The Negative", "The Print" and "The Camera" again way before digital but the principles still matter.

Out of print now, "My Way With A Camera" by Victor Blackman. UK members will recall his weekly column in Amateur Photographer.

Anything by John Shaw is worth a read. I have also gotten a lot of good info out of books written by Moose Peterson and George D. Lepp.

Suggest google John Hedgecoe. He is from the UK, and has been writing books since film days, but his techniques and tips are the best I have ever found. He has written, I think, over 30 books focused on different areas of photography.

I am interested in books that have meant something to you as being good/excellent in your photography endeavors. Topics could be landscape, macro, flowers, post processing images using artistic techniques, exposure, composition etc. I have seen many book references on this forum, for example Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson, that I was unable to find tonight through the UHH search feature. Peterson's book was definitely worth buying and I am interested in creating a list of similar books. This list of books, title and author, would be great for gift giving as well as a condensed source for new or experienced photographers who seek ideas from third parties for personal improvement. Perhaps this list could become a permanent topic found in the UHH search feature. Thank you in advance for your help.

"Digital Photography - Complete Course" - DK books

"Photogopher's Handbook" - John Hedgecoe - for basics and film - no digital

"Time-Life Library of Photography" - various - basics and film

Started in late 2011, so not a lot of experience compared to some. My very favorite so far is: THE ART OF PHOTOGRPHING NATURE by Art Wolfe and Martha Hill. This book isn’t about the exposure triangle, it is about how to take beautiful pictures. This is an older book from the 1990s, but the pictures are out of this world. If you want to learn about subject matter, light, composition, you would enjoy this book. Good luck!

Not sure who you are talking to, but one can also use the local library system. Lots of titles on Photography.
