Isn't customer support done strictly thru emails??? Thats not a very efficient way to do it. back and forth back and forth.

I'm seriously wondering if any of you have actually tried the latest version of Luminar 2018 on a Windows machine! I purchased the program yesterday along with Aurora HDR 2018. Firstly, they are both hideously slow and it's not just my computer, which exceeds the recommended specs by a comfortable margin. Secondly, neither program has a "save" or "save as" function in their file menu system. You can export but even that has its shortcomings. If you are editing a photo in either and accidently hit any program exit button, you are immediately exited without a prompt to save and ALL edits are gone. There have also been numerous reports of system crashes. Wander over to Facebook or Twitter and be prepared to see the barrage of complaints and support inquiries. Both programs appear to have been rushed to distribution, because they are definitely not ready for prime time!!!

Accidental duplicate posting.
That's a good reason to wait. Get the bugs out of it.
Thanks
I purchased Luminar for my Mac and have been waiting for the Windows version to be released. I played around with the Beta Version. I really like the program and now that I have it on my PC (My Imac is old) I will begin to use it more than LR.
Couple of questions, if you don't have or use LR, how do you import files and catalogue them? I'm not sure I want to give up that feature in LR.
Also, does anyone use Topaz Studio? I recently learned about it and since it is free and works on both Mac and PC, I downloaded it. Is the Simplify Module/plug in worth it? It is currently on sale for $30. The artsy stuff you can do with appeals to me.
Thanks
You don’t import/catalog yet. Data asset management coming in 2018.
Luminar says they are working on an asset cataloging feature for L2018, but it's not there yet. I love many of the features of L2018 but as some other posters have noted, it is pretty slow when tweaking the filters, and the "Export" function ("Save As") is pretty limited. Basically, you export to the Desktop and then place the file in the folder you want to store it in. Also, some of the newer features (dodge and burn) are not at all specific, and essentially have a "lighter" and "darker" setting, without the opacity settings available in PS for fine-tuning the d&b function. But, at $59 and liberation from the Adobe Gulag, it is well worth giving it a go.

I too recently downloaded the free version of Topaz Studio and am having a ball playing with the program. (I hate sitting in front of my computer doing PP) I have found many of the presets are subtle enough that when I apply them they make my image look exactly like I want it. Of course one can get wild and crazy with the presets as well. I haven't been to PSE since Topaz. I too am curious about the Simplify Module, so will see what the responses are to the question.

LR is great! But, it is far too BIG & hard to master for many users. The cloud is expensive and brings with it some downsides. I have switched to Luminar 2018. I see a comment regarding slow productivity. Mine is lightening fast, however, I am running the latest iMac with 64 GB Ram. It is really comprehensive, digs deep if you need or want to, is inexpensive, a breeze to use, offers such radically fast "touch-ups" that are fun to use and sometimes unique (Starbursts) and actually fun. It has brought back fun to my workflow! In a few months the catalogue component will be rolled out which will grab a lot of business from LR, et al. Does it do everything better? Likely not, but what it offers to the average user and even pro user, is unique and GOOD! Why not give it a one month free try-out and make up your own mind.
I have tried Luminar 2018 on a Mac. For the most part I like it as you can do edits very quickly with very stunning results. The deal breaker for me is the very very very very slow export. It takes at least 10 minutes or so to save or export an image with very simple edits as jpeg. I don't know if it is my computer or Luminar but I think it's a bug in Luminar. I have NIK and Perfectly Clear as plug-ins for Photoshop and Lightroom and I can edit an image with equal or better quality than Luminar in a few seconds, including exporting. With Luminar it will take you forever and ever and ever. That is so unacceptable to me. I am returning my copy if Macphun can't solve this quickly. That is so basic for a program and how can they mess that up.

Thanks for sharing this link. I just watched the first chapter and it is excellent. I haven't had a lot of time to try Luminar yet, but so far I like what I see.

47greyfox... watch the first chapter, the quickstart. After he gets done processing, he shows how to save the photo as a .jpeg, and as a luminar file, plus you still have the original unedited raw file.
I don't think it is "hideously" slow, but it does seem to be quite a bit slower when I first open a file to edit it than Lightroom is. Once opened though, I have not experienced it being slow. And I also do not have a slow PC, i7 6700 processor, 64GB RAM, M.2 Samsung 950 Pro for my C:drive.

Any thoughts on this? Worth adding to LR?
I think so, I used the pre-order price $59 on Monday and the first release was put out on Wed. I have never used Luminar before but from what I've seen so far I think it's a really good program. I am glad that I decided to buy it.
