In that a local retail outlet would have it but not the major players, (Full disclosure: I have not been in a retail camera store for about 20 years.) Houston is too far away from Denver for me to check it out and they, apparently, don't sell online. Something to mull over.

I don't see how you can say they aren't available online. B&H, Adorama, Cameta & Amazon just to name a few all have it.

Okay, let me go over it again:

B&H - Request Stock Alert
Adorama - On Backorder
Ritz -
Best Buy -
Abt - Special Order - 2 to 4 weeks
Amazon - Temporarily out of stock.

Hmmmm. This is a change from a couple days ago. Ritz & Best Buy are now indicating "in stock." Maybe things are looking up.

Yeah B&H showed they had them yesterday when I checked but I see they are out now. I would have ordered from B&H however I had two lenses to trade in and Houston Camera Exchange gave me good trade in value for them so that was more convenient for me. I love the lens. I had the 16-300 and it was a great lens but this one is even sharper. I guess they are selling like hotcakes.

That's irritating. I have been on B&H's "notification" list for several months... or thought I was.

I understand the desire for a single, do everything lens. But that involves a lot of compromises in lens speed and image quality. The Tamron suffers from barrel distortion, vigneting, and chromatic aberration. If you want to shoot f/8 and higher, then it is better. But then subject isolation can suffer as well.

If you want to shoot wildlife, the 150-600 lenses are significantly better. If you want landscapes, a lower range UWA zoom or prime is significantly better.

Very true, but try shooting landscapes with the 150-600 or wildlife with a UWA.

I’ve asked this question before and still don’t have an answer. What does GAS stand for? Is there a page anywhere in here that would list these frequently used acronyms?
