Progression of the 2017 Eclipse from Hopkinsville, KY

This is my first post on this particular forum so forgive me if you've seen your fill of the 2017 Great American Eclipse. I just finished taking some of my shots and created a progression Photo in GIMP (also a first using GIMP) I was fortunate to be at the point NASA called the point to be, about 12 miles West of Hopkinsville, KY, also called Eclipseville. What a Terrific experience.

I lost focus partway through the series... but you can still make out the progression.

I hope you enjoy it. Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.

Thank You SonnyE for taking the time to look in and leave a nice comment. This is the image I kept seeing in my mind before even going down to KY. I know it has severe short comings, but it still shows the progression I had in mind.

You're Welcome!
It's nice when you have an idea and can make it come together like that.
Well done!

Thank You, Europa! I'm just starting to get a little more involved in the Astro side of Photography. We had a nice Refractor scope when I was a kid but did not appreciate the value of it at the time... Now it's starting all over and realizing how little I actually know...

Anyway here is one of the Total Eclipse. I forgot to take my filter off early enough to get the Diamond Ring and Bailey's Beads. That and working with the 10sec delay caused more than a few missed timing shots. My Diamond Ring coming out of Total Eclipse is about the size of a 100 crt or more.

Very nice, keep notes for the eclipse in 2024 coming to your area. I wasn’t able to travel for the eclipse, but being I’m from the Canton area, I plan to be there for the next.

Your progression photo is great! Love the totality in the center and the others around it! Creative concept!

I've been wanting to assemble a collage since Eclipse Day but don't have the software expertise or computer resources to do it.

Where the loss of focus hurts you is with the sunspots.
Don't worry about that. I like the concept and execution.
Well done.
What surprised me and blew my timing on the total eclipse was how the corona was visible instantly at totality.
What a breath taking view.
I did my imaging in Madras Oregon with just a bit of smoke in the air.
I only see one of your shots with clouds so you did well.
Welcome to our corner of the world.
Look forward to seeing more images as you progress.

Barbie, I just watched a few Gimp for beginners videos on YouTube. Then worked on my images. Going back to YouTube to see what I missed... It's really not that hard when you get into the flow of it. Make sure you bring your jpgs in as layers to work with them. Did I mention Gimp is free to download and use.
