Yesterday, bought a mystery bag with photo equipment a real old man had left his retired son. I knew there was a Sears film camera in it, and a 135 with a flash, so $25 was reasonable. Poking around in it, I found 8 rolls of unused Fuji film, (not yet expired). The camera is a Sears KS 2 with 50mm Sears (made in Japan), Pentax K-mount, lens, plus a Sears (made in Korea 135 f2.8) lens, and A Vivitar 628 AF flash. Everything looks completely brand new and unused, no dings, scratches or dust! The real find, however, was, tucked down in a pocket, there was a similarly unused Nikon 55mm 2.8 AI macro lens!! My son came home from school and said a member of the film club had asked him to join; so I showed him the kit, and told him it was his. (But I'm keeping the macro lens for my Nikons; it wouldn't fit the Sears anyhow.) Yup, yesterday was a good day!

Yeah, $25 will get you $400... I have that lens, and it was mighty fine back when I used film.

ELN, one never knows what's in a mystery bag, though it's usually useless junk.
About 25 years ago I did the same thing because I wanted to buy the bag! I offered $5 for the bag and he said I could have it for $5 but had to take the contents too!!! LoL
I never got rid of this one crazy lens that was hiding in the corner. Never knew what it was either! LoL
Now we have that thing called the "internet", so two years ago I googled it....., turns out that crazy looking lens hiding in the corner is a $3000 collectible Nikon lens!!! LoL
SS
Lucky you! You could have given it away through ignorance. Congratulations.

Get a flight to Vegas, you're on a lucky streak!
Thanks, all! I'm going to set up my B&W darkroom again & teach my son the "film ropes", so he can learn it before digital, like I did so many years ago.

And with a cheap adapter you can use it on a Canon if you wish!

A few years back I found two pristine Nikons and one with a as new Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens for $5 each at "Bigfoot", our small town junk store. I recognized their value and though my film days are over, I sold them for a $360 profit. Lucky days happen.
