Hi Hoggers looking for you expert advice again. I shoot with a Nikon D7100. I shoot parties. events, dancers in parties and clubs a lot. Up until now I have tried 18-55, 35mm and 18-140mm. I need a really good zoom to use in tight spaces that work well in low light. The 35 gives me no flexibility and the 18-140 not great in low light and I want a better lens than the 18-55. I have been looking at the Sigma 18-35 and now looking for any feedback. The reviews look good so far. Thanks for any help Hoggers

Any Sigma ART lens should be a top performer. I own the 135/1.8, 50/1.4 and 24-105/4. All ART series, all excellent. Best of luck.

When I had a D7100, the Sigma 18-35 ART was my goto lens. You should be able to find some great deals on the Ebays if you would consider used.

Hi Hoggers looking for you expert advice again. I ... (show quote)

That lens is basically made just to do what you are looking to do with it, a perfect match.

Thanks guys for the input I am pretty much sold on it. Have read that auto focus issues is it's weakest feature.

AF speed depends a LOT on what camera body you have it mounted on. The better the cameras AF sensor, the faster the lens will lock AF on target.

It is an awesome lens. I recommend getting their USB-Hub, which allows you to do some rather impressive fine tuning of the lens. Out of the box my copy of the lens was great. After fine tuning, it became awesome!

What fine tuning did you find it needed?

Really interested in the fine tune you do. Is it difficult to do? How much does the dock cost?

My 50mm 1.5 is terrible at AF. 3 bodies and nonr work. Calibration via the Sigma dock or in camera is useless if the lens misses randomly. Untrustable for run and gun. Fantastic when you can focus it for stills. Others have had better results.....

I am keeping mine anyway :-)

The HUB costs 60 bucks. Well worth it.

Mine works perfectly. Seems yours needs a trip to the factory.

Its' a brilliant lens, very sharp, and will do what you want; it is heavy ! I have three sigma art lenses- they are all superb.

I own a 50mm 1.4 Art and I my friend use this https://www.sigmaphoto.com/sigma-usb-dock to fine tune mine.
I gave it a try to fine tune it in camera, but it was time consuming and did not have the same adjustment range as the dock had. While I was impressed with the sharpness out of the box, I noticed I was missing focus on the eyes, a lot. And got me questioning how I am missing this often. That's how I discovered it was front focusing and needed adjusting.
USB dock makes it easier and faster then in-camera option.
