NOAA reported that 2016 was the warmest year on record. But by how much, is burryed deeply in the report. the number is 0.2 degrees F. What they also do not say is the margin of error of the measuring devices. That number is + - 0.5. That makes a number of 0.2 a totally worthless number. The number of 0.2 is since 1880 when stats were available. Interesting to note that the accuracy of temp measuring devices was nowhere near as acurate as tofays devices, so no one really knows what the temp was then. So comparison to 1880 temperatures is totally bogus.

Global change over to renewables is well and truly underway. Your beliefs and opinions aren't important in the long or short run. The rest of the world is just getting on with it. It's being called the Third Industrial Revolution. Climate change now has very little to do with it. It's now about making money, jobs, getting in on the ground floor, and cheap sustainable power.

Renewables may be used for generating electricity and or heating spaces. But fossil fuels will still be necessary for motor vehicles. As far as the elctrical needs of the US, we will need fossil fuels for most of the country unless there is some breakthrough in the generating of electrricity. OthEr than solar the method for generating electricity is unchnged from the 1800's. Moving a magnet over a wire is the only way to generate electricty.
