Simple answer: You can blow up full frame photos larger than you can cropped frame photos without losing resolution.

Heavier, more expensive, lenses cost more.

You can only blow up larger photos clearly if there are more megapixels.

One major advantage is larger "pixels" on the sensor for any given pixel count giving stronger low light performance.

In addition to heavier and more expensive, another disadvantage is larger bodies.

Although with the right lenses, I could do everything I need for the university where I work with a Nikon D500, an APS-C (crop sensor) camera.

It's much, much, much better in every way!

Well, it's better in some ways. Basically DX and FX are different, with pros and cons to each.

So many people always mention the disadvantage of larger bodies, but the size difference is really minimal, something that's probably hardly noticed when handling a ff body compared to an APS-C body!

Right! Switching from a DSLR of any kind to mirrorless doesn't save much weight or space. Add a tele lens to a mirrorless, and you're back into DSLR territory - almost.

Focus motor in body depending on which model - can use older lenses to some extent.

I wonder if I can get a D500 fitted into a D5 body. I could look cool and my pictures would still stink.
