determining file size on a system file in Windows 10

As usual, Microsoft help is no help. I'm trying to determine how big my pictures file is in order to know how many BR disks I need to backup all my pictures. File Explorer is set to see the size, but only shows size on specific files, not on the system files (Pictures, Documents etc.). Blue Ray disks will hold from 50 to 128 GB of data depending on how many layers they have. I know that I have approx. 141 GB in use on my 1 TB hard drive. But how much of that is in pictures? There are close to 8000 pictures so don't want to try and add up the individual KBs. I'm going to back them up on external drives on Monday but want to burn disks at the same time. (Just bought an external Blue Ray drive.)

First pick file type (click on type while in list view) in file explorer - that will group all the JPEGs (or raws or dngs or tiffs, etc) together, click on the 1st file, while holding down shift and then click on the last file - this will highlight all the picture files. Then right-click and select "properties" - that should give you the total capacity.

Edit: Or, as the next poster suggested, if all your pictures in in a single directory (like pictures) and nothing else, then right click on the directory and pick properties.

Btw, if you really intend this to be a long term archive, investigate MDisks. Most Blu Ray recorders will record MDisks (look for the MDisk logo on the disk drawer or check the specs). They're more expensive, but the Longest life storage media currently available for archive.

Go into file explorer.
Right clock on the pictures folder
Select properties.
The total size of the folder will be on the General tab.

Thank you, TRIX and dgollfnut. Have 48.6 GB on the Pictures file. So will need only one Blue-ray or MDisk.
