Much has been written about the ISO performance above 400 with a Canon 7d, and noise. Here is a shot at 1000 ISO, and very little noise. As a result I will no longer hesitate to use higher than 400. BTW this shot is heavily cropped, other than that SOOC

Looks good. I shot the original 7D to ISO-2000 with just noise reduction in post to clean up the results. Above ISO-2000 I found the tools at the time started to take away too much detail of the image while removing noise.

Not bad for the old 7D. Sometimes it did quiet well with high ISO. Using flash with higher ISO seemed to be fine. I only had unwanted noise on myh 7D when in low light conditions and cranking up the ISO. Usually on wildlife images where the shutter speed had to be quite high too.

Push it all the way up and see what happens.

Here is one at 2000. Forget the lack of sharpness only posting it to show acceptable noise. Very heavy crop-only about 20% of the frame

Looks good! If you should need it, Topaz has a decent noise reduction program, and there are others as well. But I don't see a need for it with these.

I traded my 7D for a FF because the high ISO performance (which I needed for my application) was limited. OK up to ISO 1600, but too noisey (for me) beyond.

Very nice indeed. I also shoot a 7D plus 80D and T3i and found that I don't have the trouble that some people seem to have with noise. I also use Topaz DeNoise which helps when needed....Rich
