I enjoy playing golf...
Love to watch good golf being played on television , but yes it can get a bit boring especially with the British (sorry) accents...
Sometimes I wish they would play more like Happy Gilmore.....lol

My husband had a few of his friends over to watch it. I tried to watch the game and I lasted about 20 minutes. Could it get any more boring?? I called one of the wives of the guys who were at my house. We met for drinks.
I like sports. I like hockey, basketball, and football. I am looking forward to football season. At least there is movement in those venues.

A good old saying " golf spoils a good walk " . Never a truer word spoken

That is probably the worst cliché ever made and is trotted out by people who think they are clever.

British accents on a British golf course-how odd. Remember this is links golf, not the tailered courses of the US.Mind you. it doesn't stop your boys coming over and winning. To be honest golf does not lend itself to TV as much as other action sports but to those of us who play golf and love it is wonderful to see those super men in action.

Did not know you had to grow up in a place that had grass to like golf. Actually, there is a lot of grass in NYC and you can buy as much as you want. There was not a lot of grass around when I was growing up in the Red Hook section of NYC in the late 40's and 50's. I don't like it because it is to me so damn boring. From our condo, we can walk to Central Park. There is grass there. We are now legal residents of NH. A lot of grass here. Golf is yet again boring. Still, have the condo for city fixes. I like hockey, basketball, and football. At least in those sports, there is movement. I have seen a curling event that like golf is boring.

A Good Walk Spoiled: Days and Nights on the PGA Tour by John Feinstein happens to be one of the best reads on the book of Golf written. Not a cliche (can't figure out how to do that domahickey over the e). Anything by John Feinstein is excellent.

Obviously, Mary Kate, you have never enjoyed the frustration of trying to move a golf ball around 3 miles of cow pasture within a number of strokes satisfying to your self-image only to be discouraged to the extent that you were determined to return for more torture just to prove that you were better than a small white ball. Those of us who have can appreciate the drama, especially during the Majors, of the best players in the world experiencing those same frustrations.....and on occasion putting on dazzling displays conquering the insanities of the fates that befall all who play the game. Ah...Mary Kate...ye know not the drama, the excitement behind this boring little game!!!!

From one who can enjoy each pitch of a baseball game, a pitcher's duel, the mano a mano of pitcher vs. hitter, the defensive game....each drive from the tee box and subsequent recovery from the gorse is what the game is all about!!

If you say so. For me, I have expended more energy on this topic than it has value for me.

I just watch the sports that I mentioned. At 74 my main "play at" sport is walking and some hiking and of course paying attention to the market. I don't trap or skeet as much as I used to.
