Spring City Tennessee, Solar Eclipse

Good Morning,
I'm looking for suggestions for an upcoming trip in August, my wife and I are planning on being in Spring City on the day of the Solar Eclipse in August and I know that its going to be a zoo in that little city because of it being right in the middle of the band where you will be able to see the total Solar Eclipse for a whopping 2 minutes and 38 seconds, I was wondering if anyone knows that area well and can possibly suggest a good place that I don't have to worry about light pollution and too many people.

During the day the only light polution will be the sun and the it goes away for about 2-3 minutes. Seriously, you just need to find a spot along with thousands of others with a clear view of the sky! Your camera will most likely be pointed up about 55 to 75 degrees (your latitude is going to be 35 degrees plus a few minutes and seconds)

Thanks for the info, there is a Church with a nice parking lot that is on a hill I am thinking to reach out to, to see if they don't mind us taking some pictures from there.

It looks like they're preparing for a crowd. Here's a link to a newspaper article from April.

I find Churches are very nice about using their parking lots, have done it several times, especially if your offer a donation to their collection basket! Never been asked, I just offer! Anyway good choice! Good luck but be safe, your camera can be replaced, but your eyes that's another story.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing about making a donation, we have all of the glasses and filters for the cameras, just not allot time for making any mistakes! :)

Although it gets dark, light pollution should not be a problem. Just stay away from being near any street lights. As far as people are concerned, your camera should be pointed up fairly high that people should not be an issue.

Yes, light pollution in the daytime. It will come from the street lights turning on. If it is dark enough to see planets and stars in the middle of the day, it is more than likely the street lights will turn on.

Watts Bar Lake is just over the hill from there. Since this is a TVA dam and recreation area there should be ample parking and visibility.
